** ALGERIA. 9455, April 14 at 0346, Qur`an, S9+15/25, and still no sign of WRMI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ALGERIA. 9455, April 19 at *0303, RTA Béchar cuts on with Qur`an in progress. But WRMI has just reactivated this frequency, q.v. From 0250 or 0255 I`m standing by via UTwente, Maryland and Missouri SDRs. At UTwente there has been a VP signal from WRMI, but now Legends is totally overriden by Qur`aning, S9+20, making a slow SAH as both are close to .000. At Maryland, RTA is S6/S8 but well atop RMI. At Missouri, RMI rules, but we can hear Qur`an underneath, what a culture clash. Only Aoki shows RTA on 9455 at 0300-0600; EiBi shows 9470 & 9500 but neither is on now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ALGERIA. 9455, April 19 at 0400, RTA Arabic playing martial national anthem, but no English ID by 0405 as before following NA; back into Arabic, and Qur`an; break circa 0430 more talk before resuming Qur`aning. This continues from previous report about this colliding with reactivated WRMI, worse on receivers further west (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, UT Sun Apr 16 at 0205, no signal from LRA36 into Argentine or Brazilian SDRs; missed checking it earlier. Was reported by Walt Salmaniw, BC at 0100; presumably started circa 2100 Sat Apr 15 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** BRAZIL. 9664.411, April 15 at 0623, S9/+15 with good musical modulation, R. Voz Missionária has been way off frequency again for several nights, so I finally measure it direct. Gary Pence also reports: ``9664.408 as of 0814z 4/15/23 rSDR Utah East Ant`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 6754 USB, April 14 at 0336, S9+15, CHR, Trenton Military with usual VOLMET, including lots of ``no report received`` from Italy et al. Now giving own time checks only 4 minutes slow instead of 64, e.g. ``0335Z`` at 0339. I suppose extra hour resulted from DST/non confusion. The correxion first reported by Ricky Leong, Calgary at 0549 April 10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. 13020, 13530, 15800, 15920, April 13 at 1454, Chinese talk or music or JBA carriers, no doubt CNR1 jammers against Sound of Hope, // when strong enough, 15800 best. Did not check thoroly for more inband frequencies; and many probably quit by 1500. Inexperienced monitors often assume they are hearing SOH, ignoring the * in Aoki list which means jammed. EiBi list shows the jammers in separate entries. SOH itself is usually on very weak transmitters, and often slightly off-frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9700, April 14 at 0350, RHC English ending `Arts Roundup`. It seems Turkey is no longer here; and there`s a window in RRI usage between 0300 and 0530. VG signal here but not measured; // 6000 hits S9+50 with hum and undermod. And still 6165 is off. Something`s always wrong at RHC. At least shows it`s propagable (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760, April 19 at 0625, RHC English, S9/+10 on wrong frequency yet again and nowhere else on 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 13 or 15 MHz bands. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** INTERNATIONAL VACUUM [non]. StarDate, a daily 2-minute talk about astronomy, airs on lots of stations, but not in every state. Own site provides a map, but each entry must be confirmed by own websked or preferably by monitoring, as some of them are outofdate. https://stardate.org/radio/affiliates Many of them at least twice a day, earlier in the mornings than convenient for us, into the evenings. Many are M-F only tho show is 7dpw. All times shown are local of course. These are on our roster for convenience, catching later if not sooner. It`s NHK in Japanese relay via Issoudun, FRANCE for north Africa at 0300-0500, why so early? Wonder if it`s // 6105 which is NHK via France to Central America but with VG signal into NAm, refusing to speak English, but at 0200-0400. EiBi shows no overlap with RMI`s R. República, ending 9490 at 0300 UT Thu to Mon. But such adjacency is asking for trouble from residual Cuban jamming altho none audible this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 17460 & 17470, April 13 at 1500, no doubt Dengê Welat and Recep`s Turkish jammer, but which is which. Both with bits of talk and music, but on poor signals I can`t tell Kurdish from Turkish. Now 17460 is stronger, so probably jammer, and 17470 DW probably via Uzbekistan (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2186) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 17480, April 14 at 0330, S4/S7 with flutter, one station with sad wailing song of ME music; lotsa weak sigs on 16m band but this is biggest and the only one below 17500; probably Turkish jammer, if not Dengê Welat, which per Eibi starts at 0330 via Uzbekistan (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 17450, April 15 at 1817 direct, talk underneath the wideband whinecarrier; Dengê Welat must have jumped down even lower than before; also one other signal below 17500, on 17460. Confirmed via UTwente at 1821, 17450 with YLs conversing in presumed Kurdish, VG S8/9+10; and Turkish music jammer on 17460, S9. Anyhow, nothing of the whine audible at UTwente. Same situation at 1925. But at 1930, 17450 jumps to 17470, now in music too, while 17460 remains. Wolfgang Bueschel suggested they could be differentiated by amount of offfrequenciness, but they were almost the same: 17450.008 and 17460.010. ``Easy task: D.W. mostly on exact x.000 kHz aligned, TUR TRT Emirler mostly oddly 5, 9, or 11 Hertz distance on upper flank. Compare same programm with website player check at `` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 17470, April 17 at 2145, something talking here, either Dengê Welat or Recep the Jammer; but marred by that wideband multi-carrier whiner expanding further than usual from center 17450, audible out to +/- 40 kHz = 17410/17490. What IS that?? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 17460, April 19 at 0620, JBA carrier only here below 17500 so presumably Dengê Welat and/or Recep`s Turkish jammer. A few other JBA carriers further up the band as previously explored despite the nightmiddle (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MALI. 5995.000, April 19 after 2300, ORTM mostly nice African music, vocals and drumming, fair into UTwente with no QRM, S8/9+5. However, by 2325 there is CubaRM on both sides unless narrowed. Scott Walker in Virginia had recommended this hour. Of course it`s also a regular from around *0600 direct (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 6185-, April 14 at 0630, S7/9+10 of dead air again from XEPPM, a shame (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 7475, April 14 at 0335, S5/S8 of JBM Josiah on Station YHWH, the anti-Christ pirate. Walt Salmaniw, Rick Barton and others catch him almost every night at times varying around this (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. Severe weather hitting OKC and southward causes big 3 affiliate stations to blow away network news at 2230 UT April 19, replaced by wall-to-wall weather warnings. KFOR `4` finds a rerun of `Friends` too important to preëmpt on substation KAUT `43`. No ABC on KOCO `5`. But KWTV `9` moves CBS news to its substation KSBI `52`, just in time instead of `Hiway thru Hell` (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SPAIN. 11669.993, Monday April 17 at 2200, token English from SNR, good via UTwente which I already have running for Turkcheck on 11785. Due to best skip distance, I know this is better than 15 or 17 MHz at Holland remote; but has RTTY warble QRM unless bandwidth squeezed to 4 kHz or less. Opens with acknowledgement that in Spain [on double-DST], it`s already World Amateur Radio Day April 18, and plays clips of greetings in Spanish from several hams, seemingly recorded off the air. News delayed until 2203. Then I check it at Maryland SDR which agrees it`s minus 7 Hz, but also sounds like some CCI. Aoki, EiBi and HFCC show nothing else scheduled until China at 2230, Cuba from 2300 or 0000 --- but you never know when its 11670 or any frequency will be running at wrong hours. However, this CCI is very weak (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Wed April 19 at 2205, token English SNR topic seems to be about bees, but I don`t have time to listen. Maybe worth retrieving from archive. But there`s never enough time to hear everything desired, now or later (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [and non]. 7275, April 14 at 0332, S8/9+20 as VOT English fails to be on totally wrong frequency 11875 tonight; horrible accentedess ending `Did You Know That` segment. Also // 6165 much weaker, then ``every hour always with you`` VOT promo, NOT. Of course they are required to pronounce it ``Tuerkiye``. [see also KURDISTAN] That reminds me, just in the previous semihour via OETA Create channel on KETA 13-3 from PBS, `Travels with Darley` was about Turkey. Must be a new one, as she keeps pronouncing it Turkey-Ay, stress on the final long-A. Happens to be sponsored by Go-Turkiye, in closing credit correctly pronounced (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785, April 14 at 2200 and later chex direct, NO signal from VOT in English to us. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, April 15 at 2211, VOT English is not off the air today, S9+40 into UTwente; 2214 ``Gripping Piles`` but so overmodulated/distorted and horribly accented that I refuse to try to eke out the subject. It`s over already at 2218 music; recheck 2253 s/off as usual citing only 4 other English broadcasts and not in order: 1230, 1830, 2030, 1630. 2255 IS to 2255.7* Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, April 17 at 2224, VOT English as S9+45 into UTwente, canned salute to foreign S&R teams - are they still searching & rescuing this long after the EQ? Music on this and music only following are horribly distorted and I refuse to listen any further as today`s announcer also has been the horribly-accented lady. Something`s always awry at Ankara and/or erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785, April 18 at 2156, VOT English ID and IS, S5/S8 direct, so not off the air today. And not on the air circa 2310 for any extraneous German. In between I have better things to do than frustratingly try to understand her (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, April 19 at 2200, VOT not AWOL today with opening timesignal, but VP direct; measurement when checked during music at 2248 via UTwente, S9+45. That`s the same guy who runs PCO and sent me an unsolicited QSL for that. No mention whatsoever of FJB on his large QRZ.com page, just PCO. Many other reports of FJB here, from 2021 & 2022, including from AA0RQ himself implying that it`s his; besides PCO. Former callsign was just T. https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php?topic=87747.0 Note that I was hearing it on the plus, not minus side of 13564, but did not try to pinpoint it. Is FJB the same rig as PCO, and why? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13565 CW, April 14 at 2227, another HIFER beacon too close to FJB: dash and RF sent several times in a row with hardly a pause. Must be WRMI testing; 5950 now sked: WRMI-8 at 2100-0400 with System L (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9455, April 18 at 2101, WRMI-5 is back!! First noted missing March 24, after a splatter problem March 19. It`s TOMBS, probably same as on much stronger 9980 WWCR but not synchro. Now 9455 is S9/S5 direct, about the same as the other RMIs on 9395, 9955. In summer daytimes, all these should be on higher band, 11 or 13 MHz. 9455 still TOMBSing at 2330, S9+10/20 into Missouri SDR. At 0000 April 19 switches to Legends. It shall be very interesting to note whether WRMI and Algeria be colliding at 03-06 on 9455 as I have been hearing the latter Qur`aning lately! Answer: see ALGERIA above. Coincidentally, the WRMI skedgrid has been updated as of today April 18, more than a month after March 12. It always pretended 9455 was running, but FWIW here`s the System/lineup for it now, all at 285 degrees close to usward: 00-02: K, i.e. Legends except for KBC one day a week. 02-04: C, Legends 04-05: F, Truth [sic] 2Ponder [sic] 05-07: J, SMTV 07-08: F, Fámily Radio 08-09: E, TOMBS 09-10: D, RAE Argentina 10-11: J, SMTV 11-24: E, TOMBS That`s just consulting the transmission grid atop; there may be further details or contradixions in the System/programming skeds below. I have not tried to match up. Ahá: at 0159, RAE in Italian cut off incomplete, 0200 to music // 5050 so Legends, but break for a Bible quote. RAE in Italian is not scheduled on any System or frequency at 0130 or 0200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5130, UT Fri April 14 at 0343, NO signal from WBCQ Radio Angela, so this is what was missed per sked: ``April 13 (April 14 world date to 11:50 EDT/0350 UTC) Enciclopedia musical de las Américas (Language: Spanish/Español) Guest Host: Bill Tilford (US) Format: Music from around the Americas. This month will feature music of Uruguay`` Unfortunately, by design there is no alternative, webcast backup, not even archived?? Was the entire 02-04 UT emission lost? Other BCQs were operational: 6160- & 7490- both with TOMBS, 9330 WLCR nonsense (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5130, re my obs of no signal from R Angela, April 14 at 0343, Uncle Bill responds on the WOR iog: ``Hope to have 5130 back to normal tonight; it was a file issue so web stream would not have helped. The first hour (Heart of Fiction, Plain Old Doug, Line Break) will air next week, that chapter of Enciclopedia Musical will air next month (Andrew Yoder's Hobby Broadcast Radio has the time slot next week). Meanwhile, fans of Uruguayan music can enjoy this weekend's UBMP, which is dedicated specifically to candombe {sic} jazz rock fusion from Uruguay in the 70s`` Well, still no 5130 signal April 15 at 0027 into Virginia SDR besides S7 noise level. Normally it`s on early to trimulcast AAAWWW as per another twit today from AW. An update from Uncle Bill at 0057 April 15 to the WOR iog: ``Update: Turns out there is a transmitter issue with 5130 after all, we don't expect to be on the air tonight on that frequency. 7490 and 6160 should be normal. --Bill Tilford`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5130, April 17 at 0255, no signal from WBCQ R. Angela into NH SDR. Unchecked Apr 16 but probably AWOL that date too, as it surely was on UT April 15 & 14. What`s wrong, for how long? Not a twit from AW on disgraced Twitter, since earlier on Apr 14 forecasting that AAAWWW would be on 5130 that night. UB must be faced with a lot of long-planned Angela programming rescheduling (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5130, April 19 at 0233, still no signal from WBCQ Radio Angela, into Maryland SDR. That makes six nights off, I believe. Must be serious, what? R. Angela depended on broadcasting every night from 0200 to 0400 or a bit later, never webcasting. Finally circa 1330 UT April 18, on disgraced Twitter: ``Allan Weiner @AllanWBCQ · 13h [ago] Radio Angela 5130 kHz is down. Sorry. Bad tubes. Some 40+ years old. Working on it. Timtron to the rescue. It’s what we do to keep the free speech flowing. Some tubes not made any longer. Got to dig. WBCQ is a living radio museum. It’s [sic] staff too😆. More to come🙏.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 6160-, April 17 at 0636 with S9/+10 of dead air from WBCQ. No loss as it would have been TOMBS. Standard remark about stations not realizing they are modulating nothing. Fault could well be at W-A-L-T-E-R-B-O-R-O or somewhere in between, international vacuum? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7490-), April 15 from 0000, `AAAWWW` on WBCQ webcast. Before 5 minutes are up, AW insults President Biden as a ``puppet`` and a ``babbling idiot``; everyone else as ``moonbats`` --- `bye, tuneout. Wonder if he ever explained what`s wrong with 5130 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 9975, UT Sun April 16 at 0043, no signal from KVOH, nor some later attempts. I never got around to checking last weekend; were they ever on? To be sure, one must try sometime between 00 and 05 UT on Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon. Say, if they really wanted to be heard somewhat in N & C America, they could run their Zambia transmitters during that idle time period locally overnight. Not that I should give them ideas. However one of the two transmitters there was reported out of order too in April BDXC Communication, the one for 6065 and 11680, leaving only 9680 and 4965. However the latter two are N-D, while 6065 & 11680 would be on 315 degree antenna, just right for NAm beyond WAf. Could they exchange antennas? Not that I should give them ideas! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, April 16 UT, WTWW still missing whenever checked. Dated April 13, George McClintock sent some close-up photos of damaged equipment he has been working on, with captions: ``Harris SW100 really dirty water drained. Clean distilled water added. The meter tells when to change water that cools the tubes --- .2 1/2 to change.`` ``burned power module repair --- The amount of clean up required for this burned up power module to be returned to service. Top. Bottom. Damaged switcher module.`` ``Harris SW100 air flow restricted --- foam was factory used to seal the fan air flow to cool a radiator. The foam deteriorated and blocked the flow of air. They did not notice this problem. Plastic used to accomplish the seal.`` ``WTWW: additional repair work --- The repair job on a previously shown picture, required some additional work. The traces required soldering to bridge the gap. 2 resistors needed to be added and a solder bridge completed. Unfortunately when tested, these 2 transformers turned out to be bad. I previously ordered 8 black transformers and will be replacing the original burned up ones. George McClintock 4-13-2023`` (via Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, WTWW-2 continues to be off the air, not clear why, because it`s the other transmitter, WTWW-1 that George McClintock has been working on; another update from him in the form of captions to multi-MB closeups, received April 19: ``WTWW: transmitter damage & power --- THEY used plastic sheets to cover up the damaged burned up power module holes. They were burned up when the transmitter changed frequency because they did the change in high power, out of tune --- not lightning damage. The plastic sheets kept the air flow over the modules. I always went to low power for the frequency change to avoid the transmitter coming up OUT OF TUNE in high power causing module damage. #1 transmitter has 6 modules down and is capable of about 90 KW, my personal goal. The FCC classifies 100 KW as 90 KW below or 105 above. Technically any power authorized as 90% below or 105% above. THEY wrapped the power connections permanently in electrical tape and made no plan to repair the modules. Jason said he saw the person repairing electrical stuff. Ted hired this gentleman and what Jason saw was all FAKE. I would ask what happened to the insurance 100,000 dollars to repair #1 transmitter that never got repaired. George McClintock 4-17-2023`` (via Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9275, April 17 at 2143, no signal from WMLK, nor have I run across it lately. A23 HFCC sked is 17-22 on 9275, 04-09 on 15150 both daily except Sabbathday. But 15150 never activated. B22 was same, so no adjustment for local DST; kudos for that. I last logged it March 8 at 1855. Harold Frodge in MI a bit later: ``9275 WMLK Bethel PA (p); 2000, 3/10; Uh, uh Jacob O. Meyer. S9 w/very muted audio. Jake would never make it at Toastmasters. +++ 1713, 3/16; Elder Jake singing on a 2009 b’cast; Jake said, “There are approximately 30,000 mistakes in the Bible.” (How does he know?) So, he published his own version. (The Gospel according to Jake) S10, audio a tad muddy (I still want to know where the people of Nod came from.) +++ 1849-1854, 3/16; I turned on the Jake Uh-meter; 15 uh’s in 5 min. (Frodge-MI)`` He also noted it not on 9275, April 7 at 2045 when he was getting WINB. Now its own website won`t load: http://204.236.242.90/wmlk-radio/ Hitlist also leads to it on disgraced FB, bit nothing since this: ``WMLK Radio February 7 · Broadcast Note: The engineers have decided to swap out our original tube and to install the secondary one. The tube change is complete but there are start-up tests that need to be confirmed before going on the air. We should be on later when those tests are completed. Thank you for understanding.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9275, Tue April 18 at 2059, again no signal from WMLK, a day and hour supposedly active. What`s become of deceased EJOM tapes? Neighbor in more ways than one, WINB 9265v is audible but poor (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. April 16 at 0645, not even a JBA carrier from RV on 5040, 7260, 7890 or 11835 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, April 17 at 0642, missing last night but now resumed, YL in Bislama talk, S7/S9. Ron Howard agrees and adds hearing it on 11835 at *0659-0858* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 4876 USB, April 14 at 0621, 2-way including laughter in unknown language, unseems Spanish (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 9683.9, April 14 at 0349, S5/S7 open carrier, fading implying it`s not a local birdie. What could it be? Nothing listed exactly here, of course. On 9685 only CNR5, Cross-Strait Radio from Beijing site to Taiwan, unlikely to be off-frequency. On 9680, nothing but VOH Africa, Zambia from 0400, per EiBi and Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 10125 CW, April 17 at 0626, series of letters between long pauses. I soon realize it`s reading off a standard keyboard: A S D F G H J K L --- Then faster VVV DE --- and I don`t copy any ID. Then resumes with: Q W E R T Y U I O --- Is this default of some software, or done deliberately? This is of course in the so-called 30m hamband as I am listening for VKs on phone in this area (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 10125 USB, April 18 at 0618, phone ham with Oz accent, weak and does not ID as he cambios to another who is JBA. Same frequency/area where oddball phone on ``30m`` I`ve logged a few times before, but 24 hours earlier, CW sending keyboard letters in sequence. I wish ARDXC would investigate or clarify what is going on there (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 10125 CW, April 19 at 0627, again something sending keyboard letters in sequence with pauses: A S D F G H J K L ; Q W E R T Y U I O P; periodically interjects much faster: VVV DE HK_QQB_ as only partially and tentatively copied. I don`t suppose it`s from Colombia (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED [and non]. 13755, April 14 at 0608, JBA carrier. This may explain why RNZP moved to 13840 which is inbooming; but nothing listed now on 13755 in Aoki, EiBi or HFCC. Or could it be exciter from RNZ other transmitter? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 15253 USB, April 17 at 2149, 2-way in Spanish, INTRUDERS, with lower-class-Mexican accents; but 19m mostly devoid of SWBC, so why not? Certainly not QRM with anything around here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
