Tuning down the band, figured 13700 would be off since there were no spurs. Meanwhile, // music on 11760 is S9+20 but distorted. Soon mentions this being Dia Mundial de la Radio as declared by UNESCO. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Recheck at 1557, now the extremely distorted FMish spurblobs with F# tone are back, as fundamental 13700-AM has charged up to full power: approx. 13560, 13630, 13770 S8-S9, 13840, 13910-trace, i.e. ~70 kHz intervals. Something`s always wrong at RHC; 1558 IS and all go off by 1600* uncovering a JBA carrier on 13700, i.e. per Aoki/NDXC, Kostinbrod, Bulgaria, still BSing supposedly until 1800 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5040, Feb 14 at 0703, RHC still on here in Spanish plugging Dia Mundial de la Radio, a Big Deal at RHC, despite 06-07 hour supposed to be in English; was it? I`m checking for `En Contacto` DX program, since it was missing from first airtime Sunday morning. I switch to En Vivo webcast at http://www.radiohc.cu which is attached to a 24-hour program schedule you won`t find anywhere else, claiming E.C. is at 9:35 pm EST Sundays --- but it does not really start until 0240 UT Monday! At least it exist. Not a hint of any Profesor Arnaldo Coro Antich; instead unID OM announcer goes lickety-split in Spanish but 100% comprehensible with excellent enunciation unlike Arnie. But annoyingly and insultingly, two main topix are boilerplate about how satellite communications work; and boilerplate about HF propagation --- each broken up into alternating brief segments, as if listeners` attention spans cannot handle any more than a couple minutes of each at a time. Also some ham special events, and a brief bit about what SSB is, resorting to English-language abbreviations. At closing, locutor name ID sounds like Marvin Hueso? Same writer credit as last week but adding an uncopied matronymic last-last name. Theme music fill out for 15 minutes ending at 0255, then `En Cía del Dr`, which in the mornings is supposed to get 10 minutes at 1450; so did it run until 0305 tonight? Unknown. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Looking thru the attached webcast schedule, with lots of duplicates, http://www.radiohc.cu/audio_en_tiempo_real it breaks away from Spanish for only two English hours, at 20 UT, as on SW 15140; and at 11 UT when I unthink it be on any SW frequency. Also Esperanto Sunday at 1600 only; the daily afternoon lingo lineup of Arabic and Creole before English, French and Portuguese after. The FM mode confronts it better than when tuned in AM, and the S-readings are while in FM. Original is somewhat undermodulated and so are the spurs. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5040, Feb 16 at 0012, again tonight, S9+10/20 of dead air from RHC during English hour; still open carrier at 0030, 0040 and 0234 chex. Yet now all the other transmitters are on and strong in well-modulated English! 6000, 6060, 6100, 9700. Something`s not wrong at RHC. Comparing to the RHC Spanish frequencies in next few minutes: 11850, S9+20, suptorted but readable 11670, S9+10/20, slightly distorted 9650, S9+10, less modulation than 11670 9535, S8-S9 6060, S9+30/40, // 5040 5040, S9+20/30 And in English: 9700, S9/+10, // 6000 Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13560, JBA S4-S5 blob vs pt 15 pulser; 13631, 13769, 13840 JBA, spurs out of 13700-AM RHC at approx. 69-70 kHz intervals, Feb 17 at 1540. No, it`s not a TIS transmitter, rather an Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Field Data Collexion sensor, but for what? Traffic load counting instead of running over a hose, or something more sophisticated? A few metres from the main mast there is another box which may be related, as both are connected to a buried ATT line, rather than any RF transmission. Automated local ID still manages to fire around 1600 after JBA LF cuetone. KUCO must be unable to operate normally, perhaps due to again losing STL during horrible freezeweather. This info to me from Jeff White, owner of WRMI. Program Title: "America PROUD" Program Content from: Texas Radio ShortWave TRSW As planned at this time, this will be a ONE-TIME only VERY special program !!! There will certainly be a very special eQSL for "detailed" eReport + mp3-audio clip to texasradiosw@gmail.com Back in October, I felt the need to make such a program. I suggested this topic and the program title to TRSW. I suggested most of the Playlist of music titles and artists, and TRSW and I made the program content. TRSW handles Opening, station IDs, QSLing, and Closing infos. After a nice introduction by TRSW at the program start, I will moderate the musical titles and artists during the program. I would be VERY happy to hear your reaction to this broadcast. We HOPE you and Family are ALL safe from Covid-19, and ALL are managing nicely in these very difficult and troubled times. Helga and I and the family here are ALL OK, but the lock-down and vaccination chaos are disturbing, distracting, and partly plain dumb. With our very best greetings, Helga and Robert Kipp`` I tune in 5800 first at 0203, via KB0FX SDR in MO, S9+30 despite aimed toward S America like 9955, with the conclusion of `This Land Is Your Land`, then the complete Inauguration poem orated by Amanda Gorman, a nice unexpected touch on a station otherwise dedicated to songs. By 0210 I`ve switched to own R75 receiver where it`s S9+10/20 with a little fading but quite listenable: `Smoky Mountain Boogie`; 0212 robo ID and Kipp introduces the next 3 songs, starting with `America The Beautiful`. 0219 `OM River`; 0221 QSL offer from the North American service of Texas Radio Shortwave; 0222 `Born in the USA`, `Let the Sun Shine In`; 0233 ID, `Proud to be an American`, `City of New Orleans`, Alaska song about the Midnight Sun. 0245 Kate Smith, `God Bless America`, `Chattanooga Choo-Choo`, `American Anthem`. 0256 QSL offer, 0257 please stand and remove your head covering as Lady GaGa sings Our National Anthem. 0259 time for only a few notes of `Yellow Rose of Texas` theme before cut to Zanotti ID. A really feel-good show, enjoyed; tnx, TRSW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Note with eQSL from TRSW for `America Proud` show on WRMI 5800, Feb 13 at 0200-0300: ``Ahoy Glenn - We're pleased you enjoyed our show. Dalton Kate Smith Glenn Miller Orchestra Denyce Graves Lady GaGa.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7490.2v), Feb 13 from 0100 on WBCQ webcast, `AAAWWW` starts off with long complaints about how Allan`s beloved wife is getting disrespected, or has been by some people at the station when she first arrived; implying they better do so or get fired. I wonder who? A & A are A-Team equals, but Allan is getting old and much younger Angela will be his instant replacement when the time comes. She can`t visit her parents across the border in NB because of overreaxion to COVID-19 which she thinx is a Chinese bio-weapon, just a bad flu which got politicized. Tell that to the 500K Americans it has killed so far. This accounts for the first half of the hour already. Later at 0150: Still trying to buy WHRI, still waiting on FCC, don`t know of any problems, just burocracy. Everything`s culminated (? - o, ``covinated``). All the paperwork, deeds and money are ready. 0151 new FRW items -- with frequencies ``is on`` as if they would keep on a single frequency; ``single sideband TV``. BTW, I notice that Allan has not twitted since Jan 20; abandoned that platform? Says he does not like FB either. Here`s John Carver`s version: ``Tonight's show started on time on 6160. Very poor signal on 7490. Allan and Angela in the studio in a warm FLA this evening. Allan says he has a beautiful wife and Angela says she's all fired up. Opening talk about the superstation from a business standpoint. He talks about how the station is not run like other businesses as they are very laid back and the station is not run in a rigid, structured, manner as most businesses are. He also states that he is no longer twenty years old and Angela is learning the business and how to run the business so she can step in and take over when he gets to be too old. She is his backup and his partner and they are equal. He's defending his wife and he doesn't like it when people don't give her the respect that she deserves. Seems that there has been a lot of verbal criticism of Angela from men who don't think women should be running a station. Some covid talk and then Allan starts reading an article about how well radio was doing in the time of covid compared to TV and other platforms. Interrupted at 0138 by a phone call from Freddie. Allan continues reading the article after Freddie is off the air. Then Allan said that they were still trying to buy WHRI but says that the FCC still hasn't ruled on the sale and not contacted them. Reading of emails at 0150 and he starts with this week`s Free Radio Report. Closing prayer at 0159 which was cut off in the middle at the end of the show. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9975, Feb 12 at 0326, KVOH with preaching in English only S5-S9, VP compared to 9955 WRMI with praise/xmas song at S9+20/30. Something is strange here: the two are roughly the same distance, but KVOH is aiming toward us and WRMI away from us (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15825, Feb 13 at 2142, no signal from WWCR-1, not even the usual JBA carrier within the normal skip zone at 1 megameter at 15-16 MHz. 6115, also no signal for WWCR-1 on its next frequency from 2200. Ivo Ivanov also noted no signal earlier today at 0645 on 3215, the WWCR-1 frequency at 02-12 UT. This is the same transmitter which for months, yea years, has been squealing, ``I`m sick! Please help me``. John Jurasek, the VORW, soon noted at 0713, also to the WOR iog: ``It looks like there may be some technical problems - this is now posted on their website: "WWCR expects to experience problems with operation on 3.215 MHz for several days. Parts cannot be ordered to fix the problem quickly, due to a temporary closure with a parts vendor." All the best, John J. (Florida)`` Looking at the WWCR-1 program schedule, this means that John`s ``VROW`` [sic], one of very few non-gospel huxter shows, will not be heard as scheduled Saturday at 23-24 on 6115. But why does WWCR website mention 3215 only without the other two daily #1 frequencies? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15825, Feb 15 at 1542, JBA carrier, so WWCR-1 is back on air after outage awaiting some replacement part. Into Maine SDR it`s S9+15/30 --- and still squealing! So fixing that had nothing to do with the latest problem. How can anyone stand to listen to it? Doesn`t matter, as long as gospel huxters and/or far-right extremists be willing to buy the time (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15555-USB, Feb 16 at 1948, rabid gospel huxter at S8, as WJHR Milton FL inbooms rather than absencing. Checking DX Map for sporadic E, finally at 2123, I see a 36 MHz MUF about halfway between along the ARK/LA border. Originally compared to 19m neighbors at 1950: 15825 WWCR JBA S4-S5; 15770 WRMISMTV S9+30; 15730 VOAGB S9+25; and 15610 WEWN S5-S7 but with long-path echo (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15810, Feb 17 at 1544, JBA carrier where normally is nothing, equal to the 15825 WWCR JBA carrier; therefore, assume WTWW-3 has been rarely activated. At 1548 I find WTWW-2 night frequency 5085 definitely on air with rock music, DJ ID, S9+10 and distorted, but WTWW-1 is not on 5830. So is 15810 // 5085? At first seems so with similar music, but 1552, 5085 is announcing, 15810 is not. I soon switch to remotes which should get 15810 better at greater than 1-megameter skip distance, but nothing at first to Maine or Holland. No sporadic-E over N America today. At 1622 here, 15810 still JBA carrier; but at 1637, UTwente pulls JBA jazz at 15810.001 and 1638 definite ID at S6-S8, ad something about health; is 5085 off now? At 1644 Ted is explaining that 15810 is on at full power and something about a 5085 problem? At 1655 I try KiwiSDR in Maine, getting 15810 at only S3-S4, better to UTwente at S7 to S8. Maine gets JBA carrier S3 on 5085. At 1700 an anti-commercial by Ted about eight wifi ``radios`` they have which will soon be dead. ``Never buy a Grace(???) product for the rest of your life!`` Not sure of the brand, but some other one has been widely publicized about to crash with no further software updates. Which one is that? I leave 15810 UTwente on in the background but soon after 1700 it`s nothing but noise --- off or fadeout? At 1644 UT I had notified the WOR iog about 15810, but no other reports of it received in the next sesquihour (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, Feb 17 at 2001, WTWW-2 night frequency is still on with music; now also WTWW-1 SFAW day frequency 9475, but not WTWW-3 15810 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1030 kHz, Feb 15 at 1525 UT, at tune-in handy immediate ID as ``1030 AM KCWJ`` and country music; has SAH of almost 2 Hz, 116/minute. Trans-Atlantic JBA LW carrier search, Feb 11 at 0714 UT: I hesitate to do this, as there are birdies all over the place, and despite getting numerous 25-watt ND beacons from N America, superpower LWBCs from Europe elude me. There could also be intracontinental beacon traces above 200. I guess my R75 is not sensitive enough at the low end and/or my mere ~100 foot longwire is too short. Nevertheless I perform a scan and do find some: 162, 189, 198, 207 kHz. Those would correspond to: France, Iceland, UK, Iceland. But there are also carriers on 218 and 224.
