Greetings from the United States of America, again under honest, rational, competent, empathetic management! ** ALBANIA [non]. 5850, Jan 14 at 2302, R. Tirana via WRMI, news in English, OM caster has a distinctive sing-song tonality. 2309 on to mailbag with YL host, first from Richard Novak who reported this transmission in September; then someone else from October, 5850 at 2300-2329 specifically mentioned. Also plans for Xmas programming, so this may be a very old playback; I had not noticed any news items which could be outdated or not. Explaining how Albanians are not so much into celebrating Xmas like western Europeans, after years of Commie suppression --- and Orthodoxy, Islam? 2316 on to a song. The thing is, I was not aware of this broadcast, and neither is the WRMI skedgrid for System H which is blank 7 days a week during this slot! Yet apparently listeners have been running across it for months. 5850 is not in WRTH 2021 either, but other WRMI relays including 2230 on 7780 most days of the week, which I have been hearing. At 2300 too much else is going on, such as Spain and Turkey in English, and for me, BBC World News America on PBS/OETA. This was like-a-local on the caradio since it`s aimed right at us; we were on the way back from an out-of-town appointment to get our Moderna vaccination #1. BTW within a few blox of the US 81 joint antenna site inside Enid of LPFMs on 94.3 and 99.9, we got heavy FM QRM to 5850 --- just overload, or does their separation of 5.6 MHz have something to do with that? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ALBANIA [non]. 5850, Saturday January 16 at 2300, WRMI is OFF; while on Thursday we had R. Tirana relay VG; secret airing when it happen, not on the WRMI skedgrid. Tirana programs in English supposedly occur 6 days a week except Sundays; I had just heard it ending at 2300 on 7780 before WOR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** BRAZIL. 9630.324, Jan 18 at 2230, JBA off-frequency, S5-S7, presumed R. Aparecida in Portuguese. I haven`t heard even the carrier of this for a long time, but presumed as such on signature off-frequency. Its 11856v has been gone even longer, while 6135v has continued more or less active, but I think not 5035 either. My last log of it on 9630.3 was Feb 7, 2020, but I find one from Manuel Méndez on August 7, none since. Now it`s slightly stronger but less readable than RVM on 9665v. Recheck at 0320 Jan 19, 9630.3 is a JBA carrier, while 31m is otherwise virtually dead of US signals, yet 11905-11915 RNA Brasil DRM noise is detectable, but no AM signal on 11780. K-index is 3 with strange conditions. But WRMI seems absent from all frequencies, see U S A (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 376-MCW kHz, Jan 14 at 0725 UT, ND beacon dash and YAG, 40 watts from Fort Frances, Ontario. Last logged Nov 17, 2020 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See USA for 3 more logs this session ** CANADA. 242-MCW kHz, Jan 15 at 0724 UT, dash and XC, 500-watt ND beacon at Cranbrook, BC; mixed with FS and EL, see USA. Distance to Enid: only 2051 km = 1274 stmi since it`s in the SE corner, but new here. 244-MCW kHz, Jan 15 at 0724 UT, dash and TH, 1000-watt NDB at THompson, Manitoba; axually further than XC, due north at 2152 km = 1337 stmi. DXinfocentre has nothing else anywhere on 244, clear channel (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 335-MCW, Jan 20 at 0731 UT, dash and YLD, 1000-watt ND beacon at Chapleau, Ontario. 274-MCW, Jan 20 at 0737 UT, dash and YPM, 25-watt NDB from upnorth Pilangikum, Ontario, still in Hepburn list in red as ``back on``. Distance is 1741 km = 1082 stmi, or 43.28 miles per watt [not watts per mile as in original report!]. One of these quiet winter nights before spring storming set in, I should report *every* Canadian beacon audible in one session; I tend to avoid relogs of same ones over and over again (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9965, Jan 15 at 1607, rather strong pulse and noise jamming against nothing; is it DentroCuban Jamming Command paranoia, incompetence or really holding a grudge? Radio República via Costa Rica drew the jamming here originally. That was last heard exactly 10 years ago! Currently the only occupant of 9965 is Palau and not at this hour (and no jam now on 9955, despite WRMI being off) (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13699.9 approx., Jan 15 at 1556, bandscan finds poor off-frequency-minus music, but cuts off at 1557* before I can finish measuring it. Surely RHC, one of the less frequent something`s-always-wrongers, but has happened before. Nothing left, not even TOMBulgaria, supposedly 13700 at 1400-1800 per Aoki/NDXC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9699.879, Jan 16 at 0227, RHC English way off-frequency and relatively weak S5-S7; same as happened this morning to 13700-minus before I could measure it, surely same transmitter. This kind of anomaly rarely happens, but has before to make things more interesting. All other RHC frequencies checked are within a few Hz of nominal. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13699.812, Jan 16 at 1541, RHC off-frequency again, S8-S9; as heard yesterday but not in time to measure. As in previous report, was also askew on 9699.879 at 0227. Both also weaker than normal, and lacking spurblobs on 13 MHz, suspect a totally different transmitter has been substituted. Meanwhile, Ivo Ivanov, Bulgaria found another such: 6099.86 at 12-14. He thinx the same Bauta transmitter would be on 15140v from 19 in Arabic, 20 in English; but at 1739 and 1940, it`s within a fraxion of 1 Hz from 15140.00 per Bonaire SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13562 approx., Jan 17 at 1519, S4-S5 FMish spurblob from S9+10/20 RHC 13700.0-AM at, at ~69 kHz intervals today while first-order circa 13631 is S6-S7. Also on plus side, 13769 but much stronger than 13838. So the regular spurblob-producing transmitter is back instead of the weaker off-frequency-minus one. But earlier today these reports: Wolfgang Büschel: ``At 1318 UT noted the odd frequency fail transmitter at Bauta (tx #2nd of total six transmitters at Bauta site) on 6099.908 kHz`` Ivo Ivanov: ``Radio Habana Cuba on very odd frequency 13700v kHz, January 17 from 1355 on 13699.8 BAU 100 kW / 310 deg to WNAm Spanish, ex 13700. 13700 kHz is scheduled in B-20 RHC 1400-1600, but off air at 1405 UT`` --- so after that they changed transmitters and came back on as 13700 also heard by Ivo on remotes after 1430 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9700, Jan 18 at 0711, S9+30 of dead air, as RHC refuses to modulate English plus refuses to turn off. Somethings always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13630 approx., Jan 18 at 1445, RHC spurblob with F# tone, unreadable in SSB but in FM or AM mode, S6-S8; also weaker 13559 mixing with constant ISM pulse noises; out of 13700-AM which is S9/+10; also 13772 and 13843 at approx ~71 kHz intervals. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13771 & 13630 & 13560, Jan 19 at 1413, FMish spurblobs with F# tone from RHC 13700; 1511 recheck, 13770 at S6-S8, also 13631, 13564, all approx. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EAST TURKISTAN. 5960, Jan 19 at 2356-2400, as soon as Turkey off, via UTwente, Chinese talk and traditional music until 5+1 timesignal, i.e. PBS Xinjiang, Urumqi; land of Chicom genocide against the Uighurs. BTW, in case you think I exaggerate unreasonably, hear this starting at 24:10 into The World edition of Jan 19 as heard on KOSU: https://www.npr.org/podcasts/381444246/pri-s-the-world PBS Newshour also reports on this January 19 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ERITREA. 7140 & 7180, Jan 18 at 1519, JBA carriers amid LSB AROs, fittingly for the two VOBME reactivated intruders; by long path. Not attempted to measure now, but on Jan 1, Wolfgang Bueschel found them both exactly 21 Hz plus (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** FRANCE [and non]. 5875-DRM, Jan 14 at 2330, I`m too busy to check another night for RFI test, but meanwhile ideas about it have come in to the WOR iog. Alan Gale points out that a round-the-world yacht race is underway, and since TDF has previously broadcast SW specials for such races, this could be related, pure speculation. This from Michel Fremy: ``Radio France International in DRM. TDF performs irregular DRM broadcast tests during the month of January: from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on 7405 kHz; from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on 9900 Khz; from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on 15285 kHz; from 3:05 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on 9905 kHz and from 11 p.m. to midnight on 5875 kHz. These are data broadcasts mainly for tests of the DRMCAST system for ships. The programs are broadcast by the Issoudun transmitter center (hours in UTC). These emissions were not recorded in the HFCC Winter database. Regular Radio France International [DRM] broadcasts continue 24 hours a day on 3965 kHz from Issoudun with 10 kW and an omnidirectional antenna. - https://www.media-radio.info https://www.facebook.com/Radiosdumonde/ Michel FREMY`` Those times convert to 24h UT: 13-17 7405, 12-15 9900, 1430-1530 15285, 1505-1530 9905, 23-24 5875 -- but as I have noted, the last one starts later, maybe 2330. As for my remarx about DRM schedules on KiwiSDR players, Chris Mackerell, NZ replies: Hi Glenn, "They" in this case is myself as the maintainer of the database that serves the schedules such as https://www.drmrx.org/drm-broadcasts-bargraph-display/ and that feed into the KiwiSDR network. "They" get their information from reports on various mailing lists, in forums such as drmrx.org and "DRM Heard" KiwiSDR forum, and HFCC, plus my own monitoring. I have them in the database as TDF since that is what shows in the ID tag. These TDF DRMcast tests have been heard on & off for several months and I assume they are just transmitter tests, as with the sporadic appearances by CNR on various odd frequencies, but I've had no response from TDF or RFI. 73 Chris`` Mackerell (Glenn Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO 2069) ** FRANCE. 5870-5875-5880, Jan 15 at *2330-2400*, RFI DRM cuts on and off at these precise minutes, not *2300. I set up Bonaire SDR early, tuned for DRM and heard silence until 2330. Then there was music, and after 2333 mostly H&F discussion in French, only S7-S8 but enough, few if any dropouts, labeled: S/N 14.7 dB; mode B; Chan 10 kHz; 16 QAM; 8.08 kbps; TDF. Did not check Jan 14; see detailed discussion in previous report (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** FRANCE. 9900-9905-9910, Jan 18 at 1512, S3-S4 of DRM noise, one of the TDF/RFI tests, but starts it at 1500 or 1505 per conflicting info? Ivo Ivanov says the datespan for these is Jan 11, when I discovered 5875 at 2330; to Feb 28 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GERMANY [and non]. 9670, Jan 17 at 0040, Channel 292 publicized to stay on air all-night; no good direct, but via NE USA SDRs, poor rock and fast SAH; 0059 ID as OHR Radio. Not a good idea to confront co-channel CNR1 jamming and/or VOA Tibetan via Thailand until 0100, then switching to RFA Tibetan via Tajikistan (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, Jan 20 at 0742, JBA carrier but stronger than 837 and several other TA carriers still audible. This one surely R. Kiribati, which has often been absent around this time; as there is nothing more than 3 kW from W Europe = Ireland; 20/50 kW from Mideast but too late for them, while it`s long after sunset in east Kiribati. See also UNIDENTIFIED (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KOREA NORTH [non]. 9985, Jan 18 at 1515, Korean at S7-S9, needs USB tuning to minimise but not eliminate huge WWCR TOMBS on 9980. This is RFA via SAIPAN, so probably off-frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 15600, Jan 18 at 1455, also at 1450 before the 15260 UK log, and better than it, S5-S9 M&W chat in presumed Kurdish mentioning Corona; 1458 bring up theme music under, several web addresses ending in .fm, ``Dengê Amerika`` ID and off 1459.5*. It`s VOA Kurdish via Woofferton UK as scheduled 14-15; the best extracontinental signal on band, less than Cuba, much more than WWCR, WRMI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 11540, Jan 18 at 1504, fast SAH between a talker and a musicker, surely Dengê Welat and Turkish jammer; nothing on 11530, abandoned by both. D.W. could keep the jammer hopping by hopping back and forth, why not? BTW, it`s not ``Welt`` as some keep misspelling it. Isn`t Emirler too close by skip distance on 11 MHz to Diyarbakir for effective jamming? Let`s see at distancefromto.net --- entering both names with no country, it knows both are in ``Turkey`` but puts Emirler NW of Ankara near the Black Sea, at 785 km = 488 stmi, rather than just south of Ankara as in WRTH 2021 glossy page 57, i.e. quite a bit closer; Ankara itself is 674 km = 419 stmi. Are there two Emirlers? Surely the SW site is the more famous. For jamming, maybe it partially funxion, especially to further reaches of Kurdistan and/or with high-angle takeoff. Those lucky Kurds, without an independent country of their own, yet served by SW broadcasters. But Kurdish is not ``major`` enough to be one of the languages in the ADDX lang-listings. Checking EiBi and Aoki/NDXC, I find Kurdish only from: TWR, VOA, Iran, all with religio-politico agendas; and on MW, Armenia. WRTH shows some Kurdish language domestic stations from Iran, Iraq, Turkey but not Syria (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also TURKEY ** KUWAIT. 1548 kHz, Jan 20 at 0153 UT, JBA carrier but really stands out as nothing else at 9-kHz steps audible highband above 1107. There are two 500 kW, R. Sawa, Kuwait 24 hours; and TWR via Pridnestrovye to eastern Europe but only at 1930-2130 per WRTH 2021. See also UNIDENTIFIED. 1548 is what`s left of the once great VOA Arabic service on SW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KUWAIT. 5959.887 kHz, Jan 19 at 0353, via Bonaire SDR, first noted as heavy splatter to 5950 when trying for WRMI, Arabic talk measured here in SynchAM of 5960.000 minus 113v Hz carrier; 0355 music; 0358 two brief ~1 second breaks also visible on waterfall; 0400 Kuwait ID and news, first about Yemen. This Kabd is always offset minus (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 255-MCW kHz, Jan 15 at 0725 UT, SW, Stillwater NDB is finally back on the air. Checked nightly since last heard Dec 31. Jan 1 snowstorm may have knocked it off. 341-MCW kHz, Jan 15 at 0703 UT, EI, Enid NDB is finally back on air. Checked nightly/daily since last heard Jan 2. I wonder if the same engineer/entity were responsible for reactivating both at about the same time. Both 25 watts, and altho further, SW always sounds louder (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAUDI ARABIA. 15205.059, Jan 15 at 1603, JBA signal from Riyadh as scheduled 1545-1757 per Aoki/NDXC; typically askew. There`s no shame if your receiver cannot measure beyond the decimal point; but if it can, you should do so (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SCOTLAND [non]. 7570, Sat Jan 16 at 2327, WRMI with classical piano music --- yes, it`s a new airing of `Encore`, news to us as well as to Brice; VG here on the 315-beam. But this does now show on the WRMI skedgrid so maybe it`s not just a fluke/temp. However, the 0100 UT Sunday airing on 7780 is pre-empted(?) by ``KTMS``. What about 5850, did I miss checking the usual //? Next encore is UT Mon 03-04 on 5950 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SINGAPORE. 7355, Jan 15 at 1609, Korean at S9/+10, the SSOB by far once 7490 WWCR begone; i.e., BBC via Kranji at 1530-1830 carrying on far beyond NK and why isn`t it jammed? Per my NGS globe with geometer, the 250 kW, 25-degree beam then crosses southern Alaska, central BC, MT, WY and within a couple degrees of hitting Enid head-on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Jan 15 at 2301, still no signal from REE`s North American beam when English should be airing on Friday. Several others have noticed it missing for a few days, maybe because of massive snowstorm? I`m checking via Bonaire SDR. But there is a VP S4-S6 signal on 11940, the South American beam which should be much better there; recognizing the casual voice of Justin Coe but not whatever he be saying (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Jan 18 at 2235, REE North American frequency is back on after missing a week or more, S9+20 in Castilian, and presumably English after 2300 on this Monday when I heard some music. But after 2235 NO signals on // 11940, 12030 or 11685 to be heard here nor by TWR DR SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TAIWAN [non]. 9955, Monday January 18 at 1514, WRMI-3 is on again, S9/+10, extended to diffuse unscheduledly `Freedom Synergy Radio` discussing Taiwan`s growing wine industry with 200 varieties of grapes; take that, China mainland! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11815.020, Jan 18 at 1506, VOT Turkish, S7-S9 and slightly off-frequency as usual; checked for comparison to the jamming on 11540 against KURDISTAN [non], q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, Jan 18 at 2305, no signal from VOT English to us, checked at DR SDR and even UTwente. Something`s always erroneous at Ermiler. KUWAIT was VG later, tho, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [and non]. 17720, Jan 19 at 1504, S6-S8 of unID talk, the OSOB except for 17630 slightly better CRI English via MALI. 17720 is VOT which has just started a 2-hour Arabic broadcast. 5960, Jan 19 at 2324, VOT English is on, unlike 24 hours earlier, during feature on Turkish culture; 2353-2356* IS and off, uncovering Xinjiang; as checked via UTwente (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U K. 15260, Jan 18 at 1455, S5-S6 of few notes of JBA music, recognizable theme of Babcock/Encompass Woofferton, ``this is a`` test transmission and off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) see also KURDISTAN [non] ** U S A. 257-MCW kHz, Jan 14 at 0712 UT, ND beacon JYR, which is 25 watts from eclipse-land, York, Nebraska. BTW there is also an LE on 242, Lexington KY. On 242 itself at 0724 UT, I am hearing 3-way mix at different pitches of EL; FS = 400 watts from Sioux Falls SD, normally the only/dominant; and XC, see CANADA. 347-MCW kHz, Jan 15 at 0732 UT, NDB AFK, which is 25 watts from Nebraska City, NE (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also OKLAHOMA ** U S A. 293-MCW kHz, Jan 20 at 0733 UT, two NDBs mixing, TOR and FBY. Commonly I only hear FBY, 25 watts from FairBurY, Nebraska. TOR is 50 watts from TORrington, Wyoming. Previously but not now on 293 I have also heard UI, qUIncy, Illinois. 286-MCW kHz, Jan 20 at 0735 UT, ND beacon .-.-/... --- what??? .-.- is not a Roman letter but Russian ``ya``. I listen again and again, and that`s what it sounds like, tuned to 284-USB. But this must be on 286, EKS in Ennis, Montana, heard without a pause between dit for E and dah-dit-dah for K! Classaxe shows no note about any such error, https://www.classaxe.com/dx/ndb/rna/signal_list and BTW is being replaced by: https://rxx.classaxe.com/en/rna/signals 269-MCW kHz, Jan 20 at 0730 UT, ND beacon BEX, which is 25 watts from Bloomfield, Iowa; I was tuned to 267-USB where it`s mixing about equally with 25-watt HET, Henryetta, Oklahoma, which is usually alone (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13565-CW, Jan 17 at 1519, JBA signal of 1.8-milliwatt HIFER beacon, K6FRC in Patterson CA; fortunately today`s spurblobs from RHC 13700 are at ~69 kHz intervals, second-order landing just far enough away circa 13562 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Also confirmed Sat Jan 16 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, immediately following R. Tirana relay, S9/+15 at UTwente, Holland SDR. (Meanwhile, the other WBCQ, with `UBMP`, is not much better, on 7490.173v.) Also confirmed UT Monday January 18 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, good direct, following usual Bob Zanotti second ID attempt overridden. Also confirmed UT Mon Jan 18 at 0230 on WRMIs: 5800, S9+5/15 via Bonaire; 7780, S9+10/20 via UTwente; also on WRN web/satcast. How do European clockwatchers manage? Plenty strong at S9+25, after cut/on at *1854:51 vs the splash, but by 1859:52 IRRS sign-on, the splash from 7280 Vietnam and 7295 East Turkistan, both also in English, becomes severe. At 0325 I find 5800 WRMI also absent when FSR or WS should be on, and still nothing after 0330 when FSR or WOR should be on. Then I check all other possible WRMI frequencies, and hear no signals on 4980, 5010, 5850, 5950, 7570, 7730, 7780, so altho propagation is degraded, WRMI must be totally silent for some reason. Just to be sure, also check them to Bonaire SDR at 0352: none at all, including those aimed thataway, 5800 & 9955. Skedgrid has been updated again contrarily to show TOMBS now at 1500-1530 M-F and 1530-1700 daily along with other expansions. VG noise here as usual, so I try the Omaha KiwiSDR; S/N varying around 12 dB, not enough altho S9+5; labeled 8.28 kbps, mode B, Chan 5 kHz; never mind what`s on the rest of it, 13650-13655. Occasional bits decode; 1656 a few more giving 504 area code, Fellowship-something, .LA.org. 1658 ``Over the Rainbow`` music and WINB ID, 1700 YL starts another gospel huxter, but cut off the air*. Looking thru the program list at WINB.com I find none with Fellowship in their name (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (5085), UT Sun Jan 17 from 0129, not even trying WTWW-2 on distorted, monophonic SW, rather $tereo webcast to find `Theater Organ Under The Arch`, ``all George Wright`` recordings instead of Bob Heil himself; segués, no announcements until penultimate wrapup at 0157, finishing at 0201, as usual always slightly beyond 30 minutes (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Just watched this on OETA, highly recommended; SW angle: ``The Codebreaker --- Wife. Mother. Secret American Hero. Based on the book The Woman Who Smashed Codes: A True Story of Love, Spies, and the Unlikely Heroine Who Outwitted America's Enemies, The Codebreaker reveals the fascinating story of Elizebeth Smith Friedman, the groundbreaking cryptanalyst whose painstaking work to decode thousands of messages for the U.S. government would send infamous gangsters to prison in the 1930s and bring down a massive, near-invisible Nazi spy ring in WWII. Her remarkable contributions would come to light decades after her death, when secret government files were unsealed. But together with her husband, the legendary cryptologist William Friedman, Elizebeth helped develop the methods that led to the creation of the powerful new science of cryptology and laid the foundation for modern codebreaking today.

Apparently runs all-night; alternate frequency to be 7375. Per Aoki/NDXC the only other 6200s to beware of are: Tibet from 2050 to 1805 including English at 0700 --- but that`s circa noon there; and Voice of Jinling, Nanjing, China at 12-15 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 6200-RCUSB, Jan 16 at 0001, frenetic music with voiceovers, VP S4 to Bonaire SDR nearby where ROCV should be better. No one else has mentioned that this is on USB only, no LSB, but with reduced carrier detectable by off-minus tuning, just like 6906v was, same transmitter presumably. When tuned in Synch AM mode, carrier offset is shown varying up to 8 Hz mostly on the plus side. By 0007 has improved to S5-S6; by 0205, JBA S3 music in USB, so not yet Tibet. Oh2, at 0217 Jan 16, I am checking 6200 direct but mainly hearing two-way in Spanish on USB above the JBA carrier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 6200+, Jan 16 at 1742, into TWR Bonaire Kiwi SDR, steady S5 noisy RC/USB signal with peppy Spanish songs and brief announcements; 1759, ``es la una``, ID as ``ROCV en 6,200 kHz``. SAM mode shows slight fluxuation up to 12 Hz plus; sometimes jumping to 400-500 Hz range, perhaps confused by unheard QRM. Still the same at 1940 recheck. Totally daytime; employing distancefromto.net for distance El Tigre to Kralendijk, first try with those names and countries is totally wrong, 393 km, map pointing to a spot just east of Lake Maracaibo, while El Tigre is really SE of Caracas, S of Cumaná, Barcelona and Puerto la Cruz, midway to Ciudad Bolívar. Then I insert the state, Anzoátegui to get it right: 569 km = 354 statute miles. Always inspect the map to be sure it`s not a spurious result. Have seen no reports yet of hearing its alternate frequency 7375 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 6200+, Jan 18 at 0233, presumed ROCV JBA at S3/S4, as usual in SynchAM mode via TWR Bonaire KiwiSDR displaying carrier at plus 0.8 Hz slightly varying. JBA here and weak at best even at Bonaire: on the cadena dx fb Jan 14, ROCV engineer Gregorio Kina posted, ``Potencia 50 watios antena v invertida cale eliax 1/2 pulgada`` --- I guess that is supposed to be ``cable``, antenna measuring half an inch diameter? BTW, until I see a YV- callsign applied to this, or other official info, I am going to assume this be a pirate, but I bet FRW isn`t interested (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Jan 16 at 0241-0244: this time I am tuning the MW band in AM mode, 10 kHz steps, merely noting where I can detect a 1 kHz het, and not bothering to ascertain whether it`s above or below the domestic frequencies, but well-assuming these: 711, 819, 891, 909, 981, 1089, 1179.
