Best wishes and 73 from England (where we are about to go into another national lockdown). (Alan Roe, Nov 1) ** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Oct 31 at 1457-1558, periodic chex via Brasil SDR find no signal from LRA36, despite having told Manuel Méndez that their ``final`` broadcast of 2020y on Oct 28 would be played back today starting at 1500. So then I go looking for Marconi Radio International: see EUROPE. However, rechecking for RNASG at 1614 finds it has now come on, an hour late, at S5-S7; 1735 talking about the pandemia; 1907 still on at S8-S9, ``ésta es una experiencia inolvidable``, presumably wintering in Antarctica; reading several greetings from listeners, or family? Altho quite a readable signal now, just barely visible on the waterfall, less even than 15190 Inconfidência, much less than 15580 & 15730 VOA; 1910 song; 1911 IDs in Spanish, German, English (that it`s in Spanish), and another, sounds Korean but not a RAE language, on `Corazón Antártico` show. 2010 recheck still going with greetings; 2038 music; still past 2100. Concludes at 2133-2137* with ``Antártida`` theme song and off without further sign-off. Hard to copy lyrix but includes ``hielo, hielo, y más hielo``. I recorded it and maybe will play it on WOR sometime? I also go searching for it. There are two or three Antártida songs in Spanish, but none match this one. Now may we say hasta luego, hasta el otoño sur? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** AUSTRALIA. 5055, Nov 3 at 0740, JBA carrier, presumed the 1 kW, 4KZ, Innisfail, Queensland, starting to show up before sunset approx. 0824 UT, now that I`m awake late enough (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** AUSTRIA. 5930, Nov 4 at 0058, BBC in some language, not too much problem from 5935 WWCR. Probably Dari as HFCC shows Prs at 0030-0100 & 0130-0200, 300 kW eastward from Moosbrunn, sandwiching Pus probably Pashto betwixt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 335-MCW kHz, Oct 30 at 0620 UT, my shortened and lowered unrepaired longwire still manages to inpull dash and YLD, which is 1000 watt ND beacon from Chapleau, Ontario. Also 413-MCW kHz, Oct 30 at 0624, dash and YHD, 250 watts in Dryden, Ontario (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also USA ** CANADA. 2749-USB, Nov 3 at 0742 UT, weak marine weather in English by roboyl. DXinfocentre.com/mb.htm shows it`s VCO, Sydney, Nova Scotia, 550 watts with the first broadcast of the early morning starting at 0740 UT among the 3 other stations in the NS area 2749 is time-shared with. 2598-USB, Nov 3 at 0743, weak marine weather in English by roboyl sounds quite like 2749 but probably not //. Dxinfocentre.com/mb shows this one is VCP-4, Placentia, Newfoundland, 3000 watts, with the first broadcast of the early morning starting at 0737 UT among the 5 other stations in the NL area 2598 is time-shared with. During DST I was hearing some of these an hour earlier so suspect their schedules be time-shifted altho not so specified. Now they appear to match (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, Nov 1 at 2307: 7540 Chinese S9, // weaker 7810, 7470; at 2321, 6125; 2322, JBA Chinese 11170, 10920, 10870; JBA carriers on 11120, 11070, many of same SOH jam frequencies heard in our mornings. 7540 is jamming RFA Tibetan via Kuwait; 7470 is RFA Tibetan via Tajikistan, both this hour only. 7810 is an SOH frequency but Aoki does not have it on and jammed at this hour. 6125 is a legit CNR1 non-jammer channel. Around grayline, I have some other non-CNR1 // Chineses: at 2310, 7325, which is CRI Cantonese via Kunming. And at 2322 on 6140, vocal operatic which is same service and site. 6900, at 2315, something weak, Chinese? Yes, a SOH *jammer. [and non] 6100, at 2320 Nov 1, Chinese music, i.e. CRI Portuguese via Beijing short-path to here but aiming long-path 318 degrees, and // 13650 same via CUBA, but on the latter, modulation cutting on & off, while NHK is continuously audible underneath. This service continues to be *nothing* but music fill for years now! Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba as well as CRI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA [non]. 15700, Nov 2 at 1500, S9+20/30 of dead air except for big hum, then trace of CRI English modulation, ex-11880 via CUBA. By 1505 modulation has crept up a bit but still awful. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA [non]. 15700, Nov 4 at 1523, CRI English via CUBA is S9+30 but just barely modulated, with hum. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) More B-20 CRI relays: see CUBA ** COLOMBIA? 4940, Nov 3 at 0331, anonymous mystery missionary station still going with gospel huxter in Spanish, S8/S9+10 into Bonaire SDR with typical -5v Hz carrier offset in SynchAM mode. Despite having found Timed-Delay-of-Arrival direxion finding useless before, I decide to try it again. Three Kiwi sites I can employ are Pardinho, Brasil; Trinidad; and TWR Dominican Republic. They conclude 4940 is ``most likely`` at 3.20 degrees north, minus 69.80 longitude, which is in east-central Colombia, or Barrara Minas, Guainia. This is not too far from Puerto Ayacucho, Venezuela, just across the border, one of the previous outcomes, so together they become somewhat more credible as a general area. But then at 0345 I run it again with different Kiwis: Vilhena, Brasil; Bonaire; and Cariaru, Brasil. This time they put it at 13.50 north, -157.50 west, which is in the N Pacific Ocean, off the coast SW of Mexico. I think not (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 18135-USB, Oct 30 at 2014, CO8LY repeating his call fonetikaly, lima-yanqui --- ooooh! over and over; at least I think it was the caller rather than the callee; and the only phone station on band, OPSOB. ``CO8LY Cuba flag Cuba, Eduardo Somoano Cremati, P.O. Box 104, Santiago de Cuba 90100, Cuba`` per QRZ.com but his QSL manager is in Spain, and he`s trying to raise real US$ money to pay for awards he has earned (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) Used to hear CO8LY on 12 meters ** CUBA. 5954, Nov 2 at 2312, Cuban pulse jamming centred here, a legacy disservice originally drawn by the Costa Rican transmitter of Radio República, remember that? Which has been gone for many years (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6145, UT Mon Nov 2 at 0213-0218, RHC English with `DXers Unlimited`, Derwin? Jones substituting for Arnie who has a ``sore throat``, but the script is typical Arnie stuff about propagation and ham radio, lasting only 5 minutes. Just confirming DXUL still exist around these times for next DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS update pending (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13700, Nov 2 at 1538, VP S5-S6 signal, must be RHC but dreadfully weak, for music is // 11760 which is suptorted! As is 15140. // 15230 is a little better. At 1540 I find more RHC still on air, nominally until 1600 now? or slipshod: 9535 not distorted but fluttery; and 7350 very poor and undermodulated. Somethings always wrongs at RHC. It may be another week before intentional B-20 changes settle in as Arnie plays catch-up. Individual Spanish program times should already have shifted one UT hour later (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6145, Nov 3 at 0732, RHC English still on an extra hour, S9+20 with sufficient modulation and // 6000. This may mean the NAm English span has all shifted an hour later to 0100-0800 instead of 0000-0700. Due to end of DST in USA, as a Running Dog of Yanqui Imperialism. 5910, Nov 3 at 0736, RHC English is here too! Starting `Focus on Africa` which is musical, S9+20. This frequency has been used before for CRI relays earlier, not RHC itself, so could be an error at this hour. 6100 however is off so maybe ex-that. Arnie continues to boycott HFCC since that might cause him to negotiate with --- ugh --- Americans, but CRI at least registers its relays via HABana, B-20 showing 5910 at 0300-0400 English, 0400-0455 Yue = Cantonese, with 250 kW at 305 degrees. Oh2, back to 6180 at 01-03, to collide with Brasil. No change from A-season for the others on 5990, 9570, 13650, 15120; and as I already reported, 15700 ex-11880. 6000, Nov 4 at 0013, RHC in suptorted Spanish, presumably the `Mesa Redonda`` TV show soundtrack shifted as usual an hour later after DST, nominally 00-01 weekdays, and // 11950, but no signal there to the Virginia SDR where I am checking all these. Also NOT on now is 6145 the other NAm English frequency which used to start at 0000, now 0100? Also NOT to be heard are Spanish: 11760, 9640; 6060 has something with Qu`ran, and 6100 China`s Portuguese service music fill direct. 5040, Nov 4 at 0015, however is on now in English, probably the only one at this hour per winter scheduling. At 0050 Nov 4, I check Cuban frequencies direct: JBA carriers on 11800, 11760, 11670 which match for Cuba; propagation extremely degraded but you would not know it from WWV at 0000: K-index only 1, no storms, and solar flux for Nov 3 was a `high` 83! No signal on 9640 but 9535 is S7-S8. WRMI not making it on 9 MHz either but OK on 7 MHz. 6180, Nov 4 at 0100, now very fast SAH between RNA Brasil and must be the CRI CUBA relay back here despite collision last winter. Brasil was solo before 0100 but disturbed and // much weaker 11780. 6145, Nov 4 at 0102, RHC has just come on here with dead air, then JIP English modulation, and also now on weaker // 6000. 5040 now has switched to Kriyol (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also PERU [and non] ** CUBA [and non]. 5980, Nov 3 at 0734, Cuban jamming against no Martí, instead trying to save us from those nasty WWCR leapfrog mixing products, JBA underneath jam the 5890/5935 huxters which are very strong this night on fundamentals (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6100, Nov 4 at 0708, RHC English back on here with hum, // better 6145 only, and NOT 5910 which was active last night instead of 6100, mistake? Also OFF now are 6000, 5040. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13700, Nov 4 at 1527, RHC Spanish again much weaker than usual, poor S6-S8 during `Sonido Cubano` music. Also // 15140, and stronger than usual 9535 at S9+10. At this level one could hardly expect any spurs out of 13700 to audiblize. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [non]. 7435 // 7355, Nov 4 at 0705, Radio Martí is on later than late, discussing the Yanqui elexion, both S9+10/20 with little jamming, also 6030 with more jamming. These are the frequencies registered with temporary extension 0400-0600, only until 5 December; maybe back to 0600* henceforth whether or not the elexion be stolen by Trump? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EUROPE. 7720-USB, Oct 31 at *1559, Marconi Radio National comes on for publicized 16-17 broadcast, VP S5-S6 via UTwente, first with IS and IDs; 1601 YL gives address in English; then in Italian, German, French; 1602 some music, 1605 Italian talk and I suspect the rest of show will be in that language, anyhow too weak. Back to Antarctica (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GUINEA. 9650, Oct 31 at 0614, hilife music and French talk, S4-S5, presumed Conakry as recently reactivated. Have not heard them at later dayparts nor seen many other reports, so wonder if active mornings only. Manuel Méndez, Spain, who discovered them back Oct 27 until at least 0905, says they cut off at 0737 Oct 28. Dave Kenny replied on the WOR iog, ``Great to have Guinea back on SW. I first noted it back on 9650 kHz at 1710 tune-in on Friday 23rd October, during the recent Sheigra [Scotland] DXpedition``. Beware of North Korea on 9650, but per Arnulf does not start until 0730, all in Japanese until 1317v and also 2130-2417v (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ITALY. 18164-USB, Nov 2 at 1455, IU3BTY fonetikaly calling QRZ. Seems Italy/Slovenia area is a hotspot for 17m activity and/or propagation to here. https://www.qrz.com/lookup/iu3bty ``IU3BTY, Valerio Spagnolo, Via Cristoforo Colombo n.20, Conegliano (Tv) 31015, Italy`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also SLOVENIA ** KOREA NORTH [and non]. 5990, Nov 3 at 0733, noise jamming of slightly varying pitch in the Juche style, blotting something talking. No doubt attacking Echo of Hope, one of their several jumparound frequencies this week as confirmed by Ron Howard on Nov 3. Unless I can modify my own sleephours depending on local time, during CST I may be awake as late as 0730 UT instead of 0630, e.g. audiblizing stuff like this as it`s nearing winter sunset on the peninsula, 0833 at P`yongyang (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 15600, Nov 2 at 1459, ``Dengê Amerika`` ID and off 1500*. It`s VOA Kurdish via Woofferton UK at 14-15 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MADAGASCAR. 17570, Oct 30 at 2016, VP S9-S6 talk in unknown language, 2028 open carrier, 2030* off. HFCC shows it`s AWR in Mos language, 250 kW at 295 degrees favorably USward. WRTH shows it is Mossi, where else, under UK page 496; EiBi readme.txt does not include either spelling in exhaustive language list! Wikipedia says it`s the same as Moore + various spellings, which is; almost 8 mega speak it in Burkina Faso and five nearby countries. And they are on the road to SD Adventism (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 560, Nov 2 at 0629 UT, ID in passing as I tune across, sounds like ``La Serena - 98.1``. But no such slogan is listed for any Mexican or any Latin American, and there are no US SS on 560. Instead I think it must have been: XEGIK, Monclova, Coahuila, which is my nearest XE anyway, per IRCA Mexican Log, 1400/250 watts with FM on 88.1, ``La Acerera`` --- acero means steel but acera can also mean sidewalk. Steel mill? IIRC, Monclova is a polluted industrial town, and there is a General Steel Group there, at least with warehouse and sales if not manufaxuring. The Steely Station? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 4970-USB, Oct 31 at 0153, JBA pirate S3 into Rochester NY SDR, eerie music and narration, I guess a Hallowe`en story as pre-publicized by MARE to start at 0030 for some two hours from Radio Nova; did not get an ID for sure; fading down after 0203. More reports and SSTV here: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,73574.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6930-USB, Oct 31 at 2357, SFX, 2358 countdown, Nov 1 at 0007 frenetic; 0042 still going but weaker. These say it`s Radio 48: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,73666.0.html It has been the only station audible here on this pirate band, despite lots of others reported at HFU, as expected for Hallowe`en. In fact Chris Gay in KY told the WOR iog he was getting 5 pirates in the 6900s before 2130. This further reinforces my conclusion that the great majority of these pirates are well east of the Mississippi, and for some reason few of them like to run late into the night when propagation further west might be better (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, Oct 30 circa 1455 UT, still no signal except weak unmodulated carrier from classical KUCO, Edmond/OKC. Shortly restored my internet access, I can find why on http://www.kucofm.com ``KUCO EMERGENCY STATEMENT 10/30/20 UPDATE Listener supporters and friends, KUCO 90.1 continues to be off in central Oklahoma, the outage including our internet stream. It’s a fiber optic cable problem and we await restoration from Cox. It’s how we send our signal STL back to the tower from our new location in downtown OKC. The fiber optic is our only option at this time. Cox Business Ice Storm Outage Update The Cox Business commercial technical support team is presently working to restore operations to affected areas of the ice storm. They are responding to critical medical and public safety restoration priorities and then additional commercial service impacts. Service outages are primarily due to power outages and ice damage. For power related outages, Cox follows the local energy provider in its recovery as it enters damaged areas once the energy company as declared it safe of power hazards. We are currently offering our overnight WCPE service via 91.9 KBCW in McAlester and 95.9 KCSC in Woodward. We will keep you posted. Hosts stand ready to go back on the air immediately and we will have our weekend programming running for all three listening areas as well. Thank you for your patience and understanding.`` (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, Oct 31 by 1600 UT, KUCO has solved its fibre-optic feed problem and is back on air modulating as well as webcasting, in time for `The Score`, one of my favorites, cinemusic. Perhaps they should consider a backup setup, like a plain old 900-MHz STL transmitter. Webcasting should not have been interrupted either (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, KUCO, Edmond: on Nov 1 I sent this to GM Brad Ferguson: ``Brad, Glad you`re back! Sure missed KUCO. Seemed most of the time the silent carrier was on at least weakly, as KHCC would sometimes get overcome depending on antenna orientation or in driving around. Perhaps it would be a good idea not to put all your eggs in the fibre-optic link, like at least for backup a plain old 900 MHz STL? Still not clear to me why the webcast was also gone; yet you could feed the relay stations? Or did they pick up WCPE directly? Are KCSC and KBCW able to insert own IDs? As on 90.1 we always hear triple-station IDs. Best wishes, Glenn Hauser, Enid`` --- he replied: ``Of course we wanted to use an STL from the get-go but no path was available from our downtown location, hence the fiber optic cable. And the cable is double looped for robustness. Just a devastating ice storm this time around. McAlester and Woodward are complete repeaters but we were able to feed WCPE to them in the meantime. (And listeners had to suffer a second fund drive from NC!) BF`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PERU [and non]. 4764, Nov 4 at 0106, JBA carrier direct, presumed R. Huanta Dos Mil, which LOB in Brasil is still reporting on this frequency; we have another hour to hear it since R. Progreso, CUBA, has timeshifted 4765 to start at *0131.8 as carrier-on tonight. But by 0114, no more signal on 4764, signed off already? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) {LOB says sign-off is around 0100} ** SLOVENIA. 18130-USB, Oct 31 at 1450, S51DX calling QRZ and CQ: per https://www.qrz.com/lookup/s51dx ``S51DX Slovenia flag Slovenia, JANEZ CELARC, Susnikova cesta 9, 1360 VRHNIKA, Slovenia`` --- Also refers us to his own: http://www.qsl.net/s51dx/index.html Not much else on ``17`` m. Call seems familiar. Yes! I had logged him in *2014y* on 10m: ``SLOVENIA. 28505.6-USB, March 28 at 1434, QRZ and CQ from S51DX, almost-American accent...`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SLOVENIA. On 18113-USB, Nov 1 at 1458, I have been hearing a ham making quick contacts as ``CNR57DX``. A three-letter prefix is unheard of and surely wrong; nonesuch in qrz.com but I can`t figure out what he is really saying? Never with fonetix to make it clear except for the ``DX`` which is obvious. CN+ implies Morocco. Ideas? Don Moman, AB replied on the WOR iog: ``I'm hearing the pileup all calling Slavko S57DX on 18113.`` Tnx, Don. I guess he is saying fonetik ``sierra`` but it sure sounds like C-N-R. I bet he`s related to S51DX I logged the other day. Slovenia, land of future first-ladies. Yes, they are brothers. Lots of info at: https://www.qrz.com/lookup/s57dx ``S57DX, SLAVKO CELARC, OB IGRISCU 8, 1360 VRHNIKA, Slovenia`` Still allows a little time for chat about weather, etc., but clearly trying to rack up contacts, contest? Lots of other activity on 17m, such as a pileup on 18150-USB. 18122-USB, Nov 2 at 1450, there he is again, S57DX with quick North American contacts, CQ 17, this time alternating ``sierra`` with ``sugar``, better clearer signal than yesterday. Still going at 1546 recheck. See also ITALY (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, Nov 4 at 0710, JBA carrier, presumed SIBC starting to propagate around sunset there, and about equal to the JBA carrier on 5055, presumed 4KZ Queensland, as heard last night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 12032.0, Nov 3 at 1413, JBA song on this odd even frequency; not a stray CNR1 jammer as not // 6125. But there is no VOT on 12035 for the 1330-1425v English, so is this that? Yes! At 1420, Turkish muisc at S3-S5 and JBA English ID for Voice of Turkey. Probably a keypad punch-up error; something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 12035.0, Nov 4 at 1328, VOT IS & English ID, JBA back on proper frequency ex-12032.0 yesterday. Recheck at 1440, 12035 is off instead of Kazakh on wrong frequency as suspected recently. Something`s not erroneous at Emirler today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 332-MCW kHz, Oct 30 at 0621, ND beacon IC, 400 watts from Wichita - Picnic, Kansas [both with IC in them!], which I had not heard in weeks and feared off the air. Even now it`s JBA under dash and QT, 1000 watts from Thunder Bay, Ontario, which had been the only 332 to be heard among many (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7340-7345-7350, Nov 4 at 0054, DRM noise, so Radio Martí experiment is back from Grimesland NC. I found it missing for a couple weeks at various chex. B-20 HFCC still has it falsely as NOT DRM, at 17-02. Now the NOT DRM RM frequencies I hear are 7355 & 7435, VG over jamming, and also 6030 with more jamming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 11720, Fri Oct 30 at 2050, big carrier already from VOA Grimesland, 2059 sign-on, 2100 news by caster working remotely but including an AP axuality; 2105 `Music Time in Africa`, as I commemorate our renewed B-season bigsig access to it weekly off the back from `Greenville`. It`s my napping hour, so despite the lively music I doze in and out. Hyper Heather Maxwell spends too much time chatting with musicians rather than just playing their music; and also disrespects music by talking over it; source countries include Mozambique, Rhodesia, Angola. Also plays old stuff from previous hostess Rita Rochelle. Mid break mentions MTIA airtimes lacking this one; and HHM`s outro as usual ignores it too, just: ``Live`` Saturday and Sunday 1505 and 2005; also on SW Friday 0905, S&S 0905, 1505, 2005 and ``2205-hundred``. 2200 cut to Yankee Doodle sign-off but carrier stays on a while (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. BTW, HFCC shows WHRI is also registered for 7315, daily at 0600-0900, Sat/Sun at 0900-1000. Those two better coordinate with each other axual usage. 13650-13655-13660, Nov 4 at 1528, WINB hybrid DRM is still here as I first logged on Oct 26 as B-20 replacement for 15750-15755-15760. But latest HFCC dated Nov 2 shows it on 13660-13665-13670 instead, M-F at 1200-1700. Ivo Ivanov had also reported Nov 3: ``*USA Last minute frequency change of WINB Red Lion in Hybrid DRM* 1200-1700 NF 13665 INB 015 kW / 062 deg to WeEu Mon-Fri, ex 13655`` It is not clear whether he axually heard it circa 13665 yesterday or was just going by unconfirmed and questionable HFCC info, which also claims that WINB DRM power is 50 kW. No way to be certain here, but sure sounds strong enough to be 50, not 15. WINB website still lacks any program schedule for DRM transmissions, just AM 9265V, barely mentioning DRM at all (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7490.0, Nov 4 at 0559-0600*, I tune in just in time to hear at S9, classic WHRI sign-off from Cypress Creek, South Carolina, LeSEA Broadcasting --- huh? That name was abolished over a year ago. Now it`s FBC. The strange thing is, the WBCQ program schedule now claims that station is on 7490 at 0400-0600 Tue-Sat with some wacko conspiracy talkshow. WBCQ is supposedly in the process of acquiring WHRI, but are they already responsible for some of the programming on WHRI transmitter? This can be ambiguous, since of course 7490 is also WBCQ`s prime frequency from Maine, despite currently HFCC-registered at these hours as from WHRI! It`s pointless trying to see what program WHR claims to have on 7490, for it is not among the drop-down choose-a-frequency list on their website, where it seems we can no longer display a complete program schedule for any frequency/Angel, but instead have to enter search criteria for any individual item! and take our chances on finding anything at all. What a mess (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (6160v), UT Sat Oct 31, WBCQ webcast with `AAAWWW`. Starts taking about following the live Youtubecast last Saturday morning of the SAQ Alexanderson Alternator from Sweden, which I also reported about. 0012 says on 7490 and 6160 tonight. 0030 about how in early broadcasting, carbon mikes were hooked directly into transmitters, or something like that; rest of show mostly politix about YKW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 6160-, Nov 1 at 0004, WBCQ Area 51 with `Ghost Riders In The Sky` song apropos for H`we`en but really the occasional GRITS show. 6159.92v, Nov 1 at 0200 via Virginia SDR, Area 51 starting Hallowe`en special from Texas Radio Shortwave via WBCQ, S9+10/20 and -78v Hz carrier offset from 6160.000. Mostly unfamiliar spooky music, with a few synthetic YL announcements; 0202 song ``Queen of Hallowe`en``; 0207 a scream; 0216 QSL offer, or ``you may get nothing since it`s Hallowe`en``; 0225 bell tolls, etc. 0259 ending with Bach. Tnx for the show (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. AHW has vaguely mentioned special programming tonight commemorating the 100th anniversary of broadcasting in the form of KDKA, on WBCQ 7490 & 6160 = UT Tuesday. But I don`t find anything about it in his twits or on the website, nor of zappahead. Does anyone know? I do see on the *WBCQ* 7490 program sked a new wacko conspiracy show Tue-Sat at 0400-0600. But these hours are in HFCC for WHRI not WBCQ, and I already heard something last week assumed to be Cypress Creek since it was not off-frequency. Is the takeover/merger underway already? (Glenn at 2141 UT Nov 2, WOR iog) No replies, but monitoring 7490.1 from 0000 UT Tue Nov 3, good signal direct at first but fading down by 0008, the usual `Uncle Bill`s Melting Pot` repeat filler, the first dekaminute also commemorating the KDKA anniversary with some songs popular in 1920y, starting with ``Whispering``. Then I switch to 6159.92, S9 for WBCQ Area 61 and hear a docu about the early days of KDKA, in fact a produxion by KDKA when ``today`` was the Reagan era, mentioning adding a ``Far North Service`` on SW in the `30s. Then I find this week`s Area 61 has now been revealed at http://zappahead.net/#2020-1102-area61 ``Area 61 for 2-6 November 2020 Tune in weekdays at 7PM US eastern time (0000 UTC) on WBCQ 6.160 MHz. You can listen to us on the internet at http://splatterbox.us/area51 Monday 2 November 2020 KDKA Pittsburgh began regular broadcasting 100 years ago today when the station began an election night broadcast at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1920, from a tiny shack atop one of the Westinghouse Electric buildings in East Pittsburgh. Four men manned that first broadcast: Engineer William Thomas; telephone line operator John Frazier; R.S. McClelland, a standby; and Leo Rosenberg, radio's first announcer. The election returns of the Harding-Cox presidential race were relayed to about one thousand listeners who learned through this incredible new medium who the next president of the United States would be. Celebrating 100 Years of KDKA Radio KDKA Celebrates 65 (November 2, 1985) Adventures In Research 30 December 1944 Eyes and Ears For the Millions Jean Shepherd 1965 - Magic of Radio`` I then listen to more of it on the stream (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1020, Nov 3 at 0120 UT, it`s the 100th anniversary of broadcasts from KDKA Pittsburgh PA, so it would be nice to log them now. But as usual, nearby KOKP Perry OK stupid sportstalk dominates even at night, and if I null it, instead of KDKA it`s gospel huxtering in Spanish, no doubt 50 kW KCKN Roswell NM, which if it were operating properly would be nulling toward KDKA and me. These two stations make a hefty SAH of 4 Hz. In my dreams, I imagine a broadcasting industry salute to KDKA by all the other 1020 stations turning off tonight for an hour or three --- fat chance!!! Leonardo Santiago in Venezuela meanwhile sends me this info: ``Hi Glenn, On the 29th of October I was listening to this new Venezuelan radio station here in Mérida on 6.906 kHz about 21.30 to 22.15 UTC. They were broadcasting tropical music at most and airing some IDs and contact information from time to time. You can e-mail them to: rocv6906(at)gmail(dot)com They also announced a couple of phone numbers which I guess work to contact them via WhatsApp. I have recorded one of the IDs, so when I listen to that I will send you both numbers for you and those who want to contact ROCV via WhatsApp/phone as well. I have also contacted Mr. Gregorio “Kina” who is in charge of ROCV facilities and asked him if they will verify reception reports with QSL cards. He just replied by saying “send your report to our gmail account for confirmation”, so I still don’t know what kind of confirmation he has referred to if QSL card, eQSL or kind of simple e-mail verification. 73s, Leonardo Santiago, Mérida, Venezuela.`` [later:] ``Hi Glenn.
