** ALBANIA [non]. 15770, Mon Apr 13 at 2015, WRMI amid Radio Prague International in English as usual; recheck at 2050, nothing but music, from Radio Tirana? Yes, 2058 Tirana theme and 2059 its IS before cut to JIP TOMBS at 2100. It appears that over two weeks since the stupid clock change in Europe, automated recording of RT for this and the German relay have not been reset an hour earlier, instead keeps picking up music fill on that stream at the former UT feed time. I`ve had to point this out season after season, but am not responsible, nor is anyone else, not even Radio Tirana itself which pretends it`s not on SW at all! But WRMI has inserted a new time for RT even if it`s defective: 2230 UT on 7780, as noted by Richard Langley on April 12. This now shows on the transmission schedule, as System H, but not below on System H or any other program schedule at http://www.tinyurl.com/WRMIfqs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ALBANIA [non]. 15770, April 14 at 2030, I make a point of monitoring WRMI, good enough via an eastern US SDR, but not making it to the substitute receiver at UTwente. Because it`s time for Radio Tirana relay, reported recently to be partly or wholly music fill, leading us to suspect the automated recording of the English service is grabbing it at the wrong UT since DST started in Europe more than a biweek ago. But now we get it: 2030, Radio Tirana IS, theme and canned sign-on in English, Klara always claiming they can only be heard on internet, and pronouncing the URL incomprehensibly in English. And into news by other announcer, seemingly current with latest COVID-19 statistics and little else until 2038 cut abruptly to music fill, obviously not Albanian, but from WRMI`s World Music reel starting with a hymn at a tropical beat. 2041 pause for WRMI ID in Spanish! by Alfonso Montealegre, my old colleague from Radio Enlace on Radio Nederland. On the Hitlist, http://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm --- I go looking for what`s up at Radio Tirana. http://rti.rtsh.al/radio/ ``Emisioni ne gjuhёn --- Orari Ditёt Transmetimi Angleze 18:00-18:30 22:00-22:30 00:00-00:30 03:30-04:00 08:00-08.30 10:30-11:00 13:30-14:00`` Those are no doubt in local time of UT +2, the original at 16 UT and 6 repeats on the ``live`` webcast. ``Kontakt:`` gives us spelling of the announcers, with c-cedillas: English: english@rtsh.al — Klara Ruçi, Ervin Çali Then I check the podcasts via http://www.radio360.eu/index.php/english-podcasts/74-albania and find at the top today`s April 14 edition which is identical to the 8 minutes I just heard on WRMI, axually lasting 7:57! --- http://www.radio360.eu/mplayer/podcastplayer-e.php?datei=http://www.radio700.info/podcasts/en/al/tirana/./20200414_1800.mp3&feed=albania So as presently set up, R. Tirana relays contain 8 minutes of news only, and that may well be all that RT is putting out now under current circumstances, despite full half-hours being reserved. 7780, April 14 at 2230, two hours later on WRMI, I can barely hear direct the RT IS at its new repeat time. 2238 cut to different music fill, Andean, a quena & guitar tune but not the usual one. Beware: not all of these RT relays may appear every day of the week if there be something of higher priority (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ALBANIA [non]. Re my report on Tirana via WRMI, WOR iog replies: ``As I reported earlier, the Radio Tirana program via WRMI on 7780 kHz on 12 April at 2230 UT was (nominally) 30 minutes of polyphonic music. I believe the announcer introduces the program with "Join us for some information about Albanian Easter Holy Sunday ... Albanian Easter polyphony is a traditional part ..." So, this was a special Easter program. But new this year? -- Richard Langley, NB`` ``Hi Glenn, I have monitored the podcasts of R Tirana as uploaded by www.radio360.eu --- These were all 30 minute transmissions (although Tuesday 7 April only really consisted of an 8 minute news broadcast followed by music). Programmes monitored were as follows: Sat 4 April: xx02 News; xx08 "Mosiac of the Week"; xx13 "Folk Music of Albania" Mon 6 April: xx02 News; xx08 "Albania in a Week"; xx12 Music (standards & pop) Tue 7 April: xx02 News; xx08 Music (standards & pop) Wed 8 April: xx02 News; xx08 "Albania & EU Integration"; xx10 Music "Hits Through the Years" Thu 9 April: xx02 News; xx10 "Albania Economy and Facts"; xx12 Music; xx17 "Around Albania" (Tourism); xx24 Music Fr 10 April: Repeat of entire 9 April transmission Sa 11 April: Undateable feature on Albania polyphonic music (which I think I've heard before - possibly it's an "emergency reserve" programme) Mo 13 April: xx02 News; xx08 "Albania in a Week"; Tu 14 April: (8 min programme only described as "news edition") By the way, the announcer on 4 April at (xx08) mentioned "you can hear the English broadcast of R Tirana can be heard on the shortwave of 6005 kHz from 2 to 3 o'clock pm". This is the second, apparently once-a-week pandemic program featuring all the RAE language services. How April 2 is a significant date, anniversary of the Malvinas War in 1982y; shortened edition of the normally-Friday 7-10 minute DX Actuality feature: again about War Room Pandemic, sked via IRRS; Honduras station. President has extended lockdown in Argentina to April 13. 0127 outro in Spanish gives names of announcers in all 8 languages as if we have just heard them all, ``Made en/in Casa`` on RAE/Argentina al Mundo: Italian, Portuguese, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, English, in that order --- but we`ve heard only three of them this semihour and I don`t think it started at 0030 tho I was not listening then, rather to pirates. 0130 WRMI Spanish ID by Dino and into Radio Prague International in English. No other WRMI frequencies checked tonight except 5800 just after 0100 when it sounded again like Radio Taiwán Internacional (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ARGENTINA [non]. 9395, Friday April 10 at 2100, the nominal ``Italian`` hour of RAE relay via WRMI starts in Spanish by host Fernando Farías, 2102 into the voz of Arnaldo Slaen with abbr`d Actualidad DX, about IRRS War Room Pandemic show, Honduran FM station, Radio Cuarentena. 2110 into French introduced as the second of their multi-lingual shows from homes; very much like if not identical to what I was hearing last night, April 10 at 0100 on 9395. I am afraid that listeners abroad may not appreciate the baggage and credibility issues Steve Bannon drags with him into WRP, one who bears considerable responsibility for the presence of the ignorant, incompetent, forever-impeached acting president Drumpf (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ARGENTINA [non]. 5800 only, April 14 at 0230-0330* monitoring RAE Argentina al Mundo as now on WRMI skedgrid and also on the air. It`s not Spanish-only, but all 8 languages. Opening by Fernando in Spanish as ``Made en Casa`` #3, sked since 6 Apr at 0230-0300 [sic] Tue-Sat. So it`s a week old already? Last week it was #2, apparently produced once a week and repeated over & over. 0235 into Portuguese YL; brief music bridges, Andean music this time; 0243 French giving time for that as 2330 L-V on 7780; 0249 Italian YL & OM; 0256 German YL thru hourtop; 0302 English by Fernando again, giving new A-20 sked for that as 1-1:30 am Tue-Sat on 9395, starting April 6 referred to as ``last Monday``, so now it seems this segment was recorded today? 0308 to YL in Chinese; 0314 Japanese; and that`s 8 with time to spare, so? 0321 Portuguese again; 0324 outro in Spanish, 0326 music to 0330*. African percussion world-music like from the WRMI filler loop instead, not RAE; yet at 0256 Eslovaquia outro in Spanish as if they had been playing such music; 0301 recheck still on with ``Andean`` music, 0309 WRMI Spanish jingle and Jeff White ID in English, more music; off at 0330* after a few sex of deadair. Somethings` always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5025, April 10 at 0553, R. Rebelde is S9+20/30 but JBM/suptorted. Tuning upwards I at first think it`s centred about 11845, a long-gone Radio Martí frequency. But there is full jamming against current RM on 11860 and more splat on its plus side, obscured by 11880 CRI relay. And another range certainly coming out of the other RM jammed channel, 11930. In their zeal to suppress any dissent, the Cuban Commies don`t give a damn about what collateral damage it may cause, even to their own other broadcasts (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15370, April 11 at 2016, RHC French at S9/+10 but distorted with hum; while in a switch, // 15140 has OK modulation at S9+20. Got to be RHC; also much weaker 11700 with JBA Spanish goes off about same time. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13700 // 13780, April 12 at 1343, last half of RHC `En Contacto`, acknowledging reception report for 11840! That frequency was replaced last year by 11850, demoting 11840 to only that minus 10 kHz JBA spur, so was it what they really heard?! Or is this another oldshow rerun? On to Pedro Sedano`s monthly report from AER in Spain with the current sked for WWCR Spanish, L-V 21-22 on 15825. He always laboriously spells out postal addresses of stations which are anything but Spanish, including H-A-S-H-V-I-L-L-E [sic]! I think he also blew the ``1300`` but will have to listen again. Then the Spanish skeds for safely Commie stations VOK and VOV, with their addresses. Final segment back to Arnie at home via marvelous fibre-optic line for propagation, but all he does is somehow connect the pandemic with 900-km DX between E & W Cuba on 2 meters --- tropo or Es? This week`s hostess seems named Maya Quiroz. Of course, any announcer can handle it, since Arnie writes the whole script, including third-person references to himself. Also filled some time with vintage Radio Rebelde clips. 6000, April 12 at 1343, presumed RHC carrier still on here, JBM, before I ascend to 13 MHz for En Contacto. 13620, April 12 at 1350, leapfrog mixing product of RHC 13780 over 13700 another 80 kHz lower, this time with enough // modulation to make it certain. Reverse leap on 13860 is however a JBA carrier. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [and non]. 15140, April 12 at 1558, JBA carrier means RHC must be off instead of continuous, uncovering OMAN. 11760 RHC is still running for midday. Missed SW repeats of April 12 `En Contacto`, but audio here: https://cdn.teveo.cu/media/5W/Sn/EUZJjbRZny4c/artifact/R7WGgRVSHpVUkwQq.mp3 Hostess intro as Maya Quiroga. Pedro did not blow the 1300 in WWCR`s address (any number would do, as there is nothing else on ``WWCR Avenue``, but chosen to match their WNQM MW frequency; why not 15825 WWCR Ave.?); he said ``trethe-thero-thero``. Altho he pronounced it Nashville, he spelt the city starting clearly with an H. Altho he`s in Spain, Russian-influenced Cuban commies could easily confuse H with N. Never mind the Greex (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15370, April 13 at 1950, RHC in English, good audio on unscheduled frequency; has it been on since 1900 at least? // only regular frequency 15140 which is as usual distorted. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5025, April 14 at 0553, Radio Rebelde is off again; something`s always wrong at RadioCuba. Next check 1449 a JBA carrier: remnants normally audible ~sesquihour before sunset to sesquihour after sunrise over this 2+ megameter path (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760, April 14 at 1808, dead air from RHC, while the only other midday frequency, 15140 is distorted and hummy worsening the already choking Arabic. Strangely neither now nor later do I hear a bit on the few somewhat open frequencies in the non-commercial band, which would give the impression there be no DX happening. A cardinal rule of Es DX is that it works upward from lower frequencies. 93.3, not till I tune up to here do I hear something, and it`s not an open frequency but occupied by 100 kW KJKE OKC. After a few minutes of news, now monitoring direct a bit better, back to Turkish music fill, except at 2252 a brief spot with the also-American advice about coping with COVID-19, and back to more music until cut off the air right at 2300* when presumably only slightly more than half of today`s broadcast has radiated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 13 at 2227 check, VOT already on in music fill rather than signing on 30 minutes late as monitored April 10; perhaps they even started at 2200 today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 14 at 2201, VOT English underway successfully today except for the RTTY QRM from NAU Puerto Rico; but the R75 ANF feature helps a lot to minimize it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 341-MCW kHz, April 9 at 0613 UT, ND beacon OIN, which is 25 watts from Oberlin, Kansas; as EI Enid is still gone, but there are loads of others on 341 I would like to hear (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5214-USB, April 10 at 0139, MARS? net mostly with abbr`d calls, such as 8AM, 8HQ; one full call starting with AAR---; at 0141, M8A in contact with 8HS, fonetikaly, declaring ``the net is free``. Next few minutes occasional calls are ``closing stations``. Most signals weak, a few good (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 14332-USB, April 14 at 1508, W8BF in TN prompting for check-ins from anywhere to the YL Systems net. What`s this? Nothing but OM voices heard, 1509 on to KM4TTT in FL asking for calls. Also ran across this net recently on 40m. But neglecting to sign his own call. 18145-USB, April 12 at 1852, among a few other phone sigs on band, Oz? accent, says he is ex-RAF, worked in Saudi Arabia as civilian, VE7UHS. It may not feel like spring with lows near freezing here, but it`s time to keep an eye on the sporadic-E map: https://www.dxmaps.com/spots/mapg.php April 15 around 1800 UT, it shows MUF blobs *all* over the USA, mostly below 30 MHz, but a few higher approaching the FM band. There are a few short-skip contacts on the 18 MHz ham band, but no phone activity at all on the 21 MHz band; a bit of CW/digital at the low end. Nothing much on 24 MHz, but at 1814 UT, WWV is inbooming on 25000, less than 500 miles away and normally inaudible; much better than on 20000. And 11m CB is hopping, with pileups of hets on several channels: 26965, 27025, 27085, 27135, 27205, 27285 and various freebanders beyond. 27185 is still blocked by constant noise from Enid jammer: that should be getting out and no one anywhere else could locate it. 28 MHz hamband is also open, such as at 1821: 28380-USB, in the 10-10 club/net, N5MK, Mike in Louisiana, I thought he said but N5MK is really an SK in Texas, per QRZ.com. S9/+10 but not the big solid signal Grimesland used to provide daytime on 15580 or 11720. This sesquihour at 1700-1830 is now the *only* English broadcast from GB; like the previous ones, 250 kW at 94 degrees eastward to Africa, but unlike them, too close to the MUF / too close for hefty skip off the back on this band. Maybe those a bit further west can get it better? WORLD OF RADIO 2029 monitoring. Also confirmed from 0301 UT Monday April 13 on WBCQ 6159.93v but ripple carrier disturbing modulation: this transmitter again substituting like last night for 5130 during Area 51. Also confirmed UT Monday Apr 13 at 0330 on WRMI 9955, JBA here. Too bad VG 5800 cut off just in time as until 0330 had been // 9955 with RPI. (7490.1v), UT Sat Apr 11, tune-in WBCQ webcast with `Allan & Angela Weiner WorldWide` in progress, as the couple are axually arguing about some issue to do with COVID-19. At 0021 the 7490 webcast goes silent but keeps running connected. So I switch to (5130) Area 51 webcast and hear them still going a little longer, until it too stops, then several starts and stops; 0024 music fill as the outage is upline, like between FL and MD or ME. Then 7490 webcast is back while 5130 in music. Maybe they eventually got back together. Dipping in and out, seems to be same CV19 topic until last few minutes when he gets into his repair super-power searchlights including virus-killing UV; they were once used at Cape Canaveral to light up night launches. Still not hearing from our regular monitor of AAAWWW, John Carver in mid-north Indiana; hope it`s only continued computer problems and he can get a message to us that he`s OK. Meanwhile, mark your calendar for May 5, per this from A & A April 9: ``Hi Glenn, Radio has been a beacon of hope and a way to spread good feelings in bad times for over a century. Prague, sacred choral music on easter Sunday, maybe St Matthew Passion excerpt as not IDed before closing at 0328 and then applause; bit of other music but 0330 cut to dead air, and off by 0331*, just in time to avoid simulcasting 9955 for WOR as until now it has been //. 5800 is supposedly scheduled now with RAE in Spanish at 0230-0330*.
