QSL card, schedule and tract received today from TWR Benin 1566, for an AUG 31 2013 reception. Signed by Lorraine S., from the Swaziland address. The card says I heard this on 156 khz, but I think everyone knows the actual channel! That's my 60th verified country of 78 heard. So if we counted in Base 6 that would mean I've reached the century mark. And for binary-only DXers, that would be country #111,100.- yes you got it right - only 4 more to reach a million! Just came in from raking leaves which might explain my interest in high numbers today. Since we're on a roll with this - most contemporary cultures use base 10, but there's one that uses base 8 - derived not from fingers, but from the spaces between fingers. An mystical concept - a counting system derived from what is not there. Hmmmm (Jim Renfrew, Holley NY, DX LISTENING DIGEST) Besides the MW lists, Jim sent this directly to me, apparently knowing how much I welcome digression (gh, DXLD) Actually, 100 base 6 would be 36 base 10. So, you're really approaching 200 countries heard base 6! Congratulations! (Earl Higgins, St. Louis Missouri, IRCA via DXLD) Hmm. If you can count what isn't there, then perhaps the tree falling in the forest does make a sound after all (Russ Edmunds, 15 mi NNW of Philadelphia, ibid.) ** BOLIVIA. 6134.8, R. Saludos! (Claudio Galaz, Chile, in advance: 1903 UT Oct 11, condiglista yg via DXLD) Esto es algun feeder o similar? (Rodolfo Tizzi, Uruguay, ibid.) 2109 TU (José A. Kucher, Argentina, ibid.) Saludos! (Claudio Galaz, Chile, 2121 UT, ibid.) Not necessarily, unless in el norte they can tell they are close enough for it to be groundwave. :) (Rodolfo Tizzi, ibid.) [that would seem to imply ``hearing myself`` as if he were doing it --- gh] Sí, Rodolfo. Vía websdr de Utwente en Holanda. SINPO: 22222 (Galaz, 2223 UT, ibid.) Really 13363.55-LSB or so. Seems there was also one in the lower 11 MHz area (gh) Si así fuera, Arnaldo y demás, creo que no deben estar saliendo precisamente con 50 vatios sino con bastante más. Buenos DX (Rafael Rodríguez R. 0007 UT Oct 12, http://dxdesdecolombia.blogspot.com ibid.) I started checking for this Oct 15 at 2147, also at 2229, 2301, but nothing heard then (except CODAR). Like exactly one year ago, an unofficial relay of Radio Cooperativa, one of the major stations in Chile, has been put on 12365-USB because Chile is competing in the qualifiers for next year`s World Cup in Brasil. Claudio Galaz in Chile tipped the condiglista, Friday Oct 11 that this might be coming up, and it was then widely heard in South America after 2100 UT, Colombia vs Chile from Barranquilla. Lots of speculation on the condiglist about who is doing these relays. I`m editing it all together for the next DXLD: http://www.w4uvh.net/dxld1342.txt Claudio thinx it`s coming from a military base in northern Chile, Antofagasta or Calama, since monitors in the north are getting a stronger signal; however, I think it could be just the opposite due to skip distances, unless the northerners are really close, within groundwave range. Horacio Nigro and Dario Monferini checked the schedules and told me one more match would be on October 15 from 2130(?), Chile vs Ecuador. Looked up later, played in Santiago, Chile beat Ecuador 2-1, but Ecuador is still in the running to qualify unless Uruguay surpasses them later. On the Oct 11 match, Chile beat Colombia 3-1. For last year`s reports about this see under CHILE: http://www.w4uvh.net/dxld1242.txt Another station on 12365-USB is marine weather from VMC in Australia, which could be bothered, but no sign of it during my logs. There will be no more REE transmissions from the Cariari site starting on October 28. A real blow to all North and South American listeners. Here is the link to the statement that was posted today in Spanish on RTVE.es; below is my translation. http://www.rtve.es/radio/20131014/loteria-navidad-radio-exterior/764480.shtml "On October 28, Radio Exterior de España will permanently end its shortwave transmissions from its relay station in Cariari, Costa Rica. At the same time, from that date, broadcasts from its transmitters in Noblejas, Spain will be considerably expanded. These changes will affect those listeners in Central America, North America and the northern part of South America’s Southern Cone who tune us. In the coming days, we will post on our webpage and announce on our programs our new frequencies and times in which you can hear Radio Exterior de España." I'm guessing that with the financial woes of the Spanish government, it was a choice between closing Cariari or making major cuts to overall output, and the relay station lost. Wonder if anyone is interested in purchasing the Cariari facility? Doubtful, considering the demise of other Western Hemishere sites in the past decade. Marty Delfín of El País in Madrid informs us that REE will be CLOSING the Cariari relay at the end of A-13, off from October 27! One more bites the dust. REE already canceled all CR transmissions northward, except for DRM at 00-02 on 9630. Supposedly broadcasts direct from Noblejas will be expanded to compensate. The tentative HFCC B-13 schedule as of 14 Oct still lists Cariari on six frequencies: 3350, 5965, 5970, 9675, 11815, 17850 as effective until 30 March, apparently having been contingently registered and to be removed. At least that will get rid of the wideband DRM noise surrounding 9630 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1691, DX LISTENING DIGEST) Keith Perron says: October 15, 2013 at 9:15 pm --- Not surprised. REE was losing money on this relay. If they were smart that could have leased time. But their prices were way out of the market norm. They were charging nearly 200 Euros for a 100 kW. CHANNEL 292 --- Dear friends of shortwave radio and our station! As you might have already noticed, there is some progress at the moment. Unfortunately we could not yet buy a new transmitter (thanks to RIZ for the offer, we will come back to you when we have 290.000 € left), but we could make many useful contacts. We also thank all those, who supported us after the last E-Mail with ideas and addresses of possible providers, especially Mike from around London. All remaining QSLs should have been sent by E-Mail during the last days. At the moment we are on air with the control [test?] transmitter and 1200 Watts. After German RNI was transmitted at the weekend, now we are playing some music. To all radio stations reading this mail: cheap transmitter times are available at short notice! The conditions on 49m are excellent, at night we receive reports from the east coast of America (up to now from New York and Georgia. Whoever has contacts to America/Canada, could tell the listeners over there to try receiving us. Please attach our e-mail address, as it is not always mentioned on air). The week between 24. And 30.12.2013 is already booked out. Now what's next? In the works are: Stand-by-transmitter with 2500 Watts, Solid-state, Linear amp. The 9 kW power supply (50 Volts, 170 A) is already prepared, a little reserve in the power supply is never harmful for linear amps. The transmitter is in the works. Main transmitter with xx? Watts. We are in the proceedings, we hope it will work until [by] middle of December. The existing antenna should be okay for 20 kW, but a new coax wire and balun are required. The wire is already here, the balun finished, but not yet tested. When the time has come we will be off air for some time. Stand-by-antenna --- Is in place, has to be installed. For that we need the balun which is presently in use in the main antenna. One request: As you might have seen, we have some ads on our website http://www.channel292.de It would be nice if you click them from time to time. The name Radio6150 is of course not appropriate for 6070 kHz; anyhow it was only for testing purposes. The whole project will be named Channel 292. Maybe some still have an old QSL. The new web page is http://www.channel292.de the new E-Mail is info @ channel292.de The existing website will be changed bit by bit, but it is still accessible just like the old mail address. One more Appeal: When you listen to our station, please send us a short assessment of the modulation quality, especially: Frequency range (bass/treble present?); Volume (especially compared to other 49m stations); Your total opinion of the modulation. In the morning from ca. 7 to 9 am CEST / 5 to 7 am UT the signal can usually be received very strong and undisturbed. Thanks! If you receive our messages multiple times, or want to unsubscribe, just send us an E-Mail. Always keep our homepage in view, there we will keep you informed about everything happening. Meanwhile, 11740 via GOA is in talk programming, poor signal and noticeably weaker than 11985 but trumps it by modulating properly, and with about same amount of flutter. 0103 recheck, 11985 still OC/DA, but 0104 cuts on music so I then switch to 11740 and find it has been silent, but soon brings up the same music. Why is it so difficult for AIR to run these two reliably?? 11985 // 11740, Oct 12 at 0056, AIR Sinhala service is really parallel on both at the moment tonight, both poor with flutter, but a bit of echo on 11985 from Khampur. 11985 // 11740, Oct 13 at 0054, AIR Sinhala service is on both tonight and about equal level. 11985 & 11740, Oct 14 at 0059, AIR is back to its old trix: the two channels supposed to be // with Sinhala service at 0045-0115 are totally separate again: 11985 playing AIR IS, 0100 announcement, presumed really opening Sindhi service, which is their only language scheduled to start at 0100, but supposed to be only on 5990 Khampur, 7370 Kingsway, 9635 Bengaluru, per Aoki. Maybe one of these nights I will be able to match the 11985 diversion to one of them. 11740, meanwhile, at 0059 is playing other music, presumably the real Sinhala service, and at 0101 the two are playing very different music. At 0111, 11985 is in talk, 11740 music. This date, 11985 is a bit stronger, via Khampur than 11740 is via GOA. 11985, Oct 15 at 0055, 1-kHz tone, so here we go again, All India Radio via Delhi/Khampur broadcasting wrong program contrary to own schedule and all other listings; 0058 IS, 0100 talk in S Asian language, presumably opening Sindhi not supposed to be on this frequency; meanwhile at 0055, 11740 via GOA is not // but totally separate presumably with correct Sinhala talk, started at 0045; both have heavy flutter. 0106 recheck, still separate, 11985 talk, 11740 music. 11985 // 11740, Oct 16 at 0059, AIR Sinhala service succeeds in occupying both frequencies with same music, probably out of synch, heavy flutter. It`s supposed to last until 0115, but at 0112 check, 11740 via GOA has vanished, 11985 still in music. With time running out, on 5990 there is a very poor signal which is supposed to be the AIR Sindhi service, maybe a trace of musical modulation, not enough to tell whether it`s // 11985 before the latter goes to open carrier 0115 and off. Both 5990 and 11985 are listed as the Delhi (Khampur) site, whatever the (mis)programming may be, easy to cross feeds (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** INDIA. 15040, Oct 12 at 1245-1305 enjoying nice music from AIR Burmese service, poor-fair, via Bengaluru, and better than 15105 BB. Concerning the Marnach 1440 kHz transmitter: >>> The deliberate change of antennas at 1900 was for English and French to be served properly. Does this mean that the "daytime" trio of masts at 50 02 47N 06 04 38E is also used at nights? <<< It indeed seems that the eastern beam is always in use now. Using the western beam would make no sense of course when all programming is in German. Which, however, does not mean that the other antenna has been shut down permanently, just that it is not in use at present. And re: >>> The Transradio TRAM600 transmitter must be configurated as two TRAM300, one always in standby. <<< Is this reliable information or just some of all the hearsaying that surrounds the Marnach facility? It was indeed for years understood, and perhaps initially the case, that the solid-state gear at Marnach is 300 kW only. But now the manufacturer specifies the installation in its résumé as TRAM/P 600, cf. http://www.transradio.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=118&Itemid=105?=de I.e. a 600 kW set-up, consisting of two blocks and a combiner. The photo at least confirms these two blocks, with at least one of them indeed consisting of six amplifier cabinets, each worth 50 kW. (I.e. opinions that during RTL Radio programming only 50...80 kW are being run can not be confirmed from a location at similar distance to both Marnach and Heusweiler, proceeding from the assumption that 1422 kHz runs with the listed 400 kW a comparison suggests ca. 150 kW for 1440 kHz while 1179 kHz / 10 kW was found very much weaker.) And the last piece of official information about the fate of the Marnach facility I'm aware of is this communiqué from October 2011, announcing that the transmitter will be closed "within three years": http://www.gouvernement.lu/salle_presse/actualite/2011/10-octobre/03-marnach/ A few months earlier an executive stated that they do not intend to replace Marnach anymore: http://www.wort.lu/wort/web/letzebuerg/artikel/2011/06/153563/hat-marnacher-sendeanlage-bald-ausgestrahlt.php Now one could speculate if a big business with the Chinese could change this strategy. As a matter of fact SARFT/CRI wanted in last year to use 603 kHz for Berlin. An invitation of applications had been posted by the media regulator MABB, but no follow-ups appeared in the public domain afterwards. Now one could speculate again if the project of a mediumwave service in Berlin has been terminated or (which perhaps should not be ruled out in light of the big 1440 kHz expansion) is still in the pipeline (Kai Ludwig, Germany, Oct 12, mwmasts yg via DXLD) ** MAURITANIA [and non]. 783, Oct 12 at 0053, one of only two JBA TA carriers below 1200 is here, loops ENE, which fits for the 50 kW IGIM, rather than other 783s: The Great Circle Distance Calculator for Enid to Nouakchott shows: 8128 km at 80 degrees. Cantú: 610 XEBX La Primera Sabinas, Coah. 5,000 500 Have not yet heard ``La Primera`` slogan as also in WRTH, IRCA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** MEXICO [and non]. 620, Oct 14 at 1201 UT, segué from norteña music to national anthem --- this is really a fine piece of music and I don`t tire of hearing it, especially this orchestral rendition, yet multi-verse so you never know when the final cadence will really end it, and so you don`t have to hear the bloodthirsty war-mongering lyrix, rendered instead by violins. 1205 segué to also fine Chihuahua state anthem, this with lyrix by baritone. 1206 full ID by SHVA for La Norteñita, XEBU 91.7 and 620 with 25 kW, ``llegando a Ud. en alta definición`` --- really? Maybe IBOC on FM? Never hear the noise around it on AM, unlike from KMIK 620 The Metroplex, which this habitually dominates on sunrise skip (and much of the night as well). (Not sure if KMIK is IBOC at nite, as no problem with 610 and 630 signals; in daytime KMIK colludes with KWPN 640 Moore OK to IBOCize everything from 610 to 660; BTW, on 640 you`re more likely to hear an ID with its ex-call WWLS, now applying to 98.1.) The 25 kW presumably applies to 91.7, as 620 power is listed as 5/1 kW in WRTH, 10/1 kW in IRCA, and Cantú: 620 XEBU La Norteñita + FM 91.7 Chihuahua, Chih. 5,000 1,000 Thanks to non-direxionality and southern-advantage, even if really running 1 kW at night, XEBU is the dominant 620 here, as we`re in a `hole` among US stations, all of the nearest ones with nulls more or less toward OK (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** MEXICO. 630, Oct 13 at 1159 UT, ``Somos Radio México, Monterrey``, i.e. XEFB, that being their group rather than specific slogan. Oops, I see XEFB is missing from the 2012 IRCA Mexican log; hope they got it in the 2013 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** MEXICO. 680, Oct 12 at 1211 UT, timecheck for 6:12, phone numbers; 1212 now it`s ``6:14`` so the studio clock must be a sesquiminute fast; then guy on the phone with detailed ``estado del tiempo`` weather forecast for the entire nation; must have mentioned every state, until 1220 finally gets to ``nuestra región del Pacífico norte``, outro as named Rodríguez; 1221 ``desde Guasave, Sinaloa, Noticias en Punto --- Multimedios``. Then on to a report on ``estado de fresas`` --- strawberries?? Hidalgo means noble or aristocrat, but probably derived here from name of an historical figure. Slogans listed as La Triple T/La Caliente on Cantú's online list and in the WRTVH-2013. This surely is Glenn Hauser's unID in IDXD 81-2. Another new XE for me here, if my list is correct (Terry L Krueger, Clearwater FL, DX LISTENING DIGEST) 780, Oct 12 at 1206 UT, full ID for ``La Poderosa``, ``25 años sirviendo a la región``, XESFT, also FM 103.7, ``Grupo Radiorama, la cadena que une a México``, then live show about Tamaulipas. At 1216 UT with KSPI OK nulled, I am again hearing that het with a station in Spanish, but stepping up and down to nearby frequencies with BFO, KSPI is also off to the lo side (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** MEXICO. 810, Oct 12 at 1228 UT, rough hum loops NE/SW, overcome at 1229 by WHB KC as it pops onto day power and pattern, but can still hear the hum for a while. Googling on Mexican phone numbers is usually unproductive and so are these, but there is an Iglesia de Alto Impacto of the Disciples of Christ in Monterrey NL, as I already strongly suspect this is XEOK, OK? You might think http://radioacir.net would go to network HQ in the DF, but it`s axually XEOK`s own page, and displays the two phone numbers at the bottom, except 83-77-95-73 instead of the -97- I must have miscopied. (Why didn`t USA just go to 8-digit local phone numbers, immediately dekamating the availabilities, rather than messing with overlaying and cleaving more and more area codes, requiring 11-digit dialing??) Beware: website autolaunches audio whether wanted or not. But no back- announce, just 0612 ID as ``La Jota Mexicana, 970-AM``, i.e. XEJ, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. Salerosa refers to salt, salty? Witty? What does it really connote in this title? Google translate can`t handle saleroso/a at all. 950 and 970 stations have no problem getting past my local 960 KGWA, while my other 1 kW local, 1390 KCRC, blox its adjacent channels and desensitizes even further ones (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** MEXICO. 1030, Oct 16 at 1243 UT, two stations in Spanish, one of which IDs as 103.3 y 970, Radio Fórmula, i.e. relaying the network flagship in the DF; Cantú does not cross-reference 103.3 on the 970 frequency listing, but separately does have 103.3 as XERFR too. When that`s nulled, XEEP confronts KGFX opposite from SD; see U S A. Lucky XEEP in the DF is now the only Mexican left with a nationally clear channel on MW, 100/20 kW, but does little good up here. Must be R. Casablanca per direct tip from Rick who said he would be on starting at 2300. Next check at 0053 Oct 11, I can tell it`s still on, but storm noise level is very heavy from the line along the Kansas/Colorado border extending into the OK and TX Panhandles. 0106 I can tell the music is small-band from the era of the `40s, but way too much noise (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6940-RCDSB, Oct 13 at 0106 announces 6-9-4-0 as I tune in, music; 0112 talking and weird vocal SFX. 0113 synthetic YL says ``coming up next is Radio Jamba International``. SSB tuning helps as the carrier is somewhat reduced, but on both sidebands equally. 0130 it`s better with drumming but some audio interruptions; 0133 strange/strained voices ranting about Microsoft, pancakes, basketball, pork rinds, etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6945-USB, Oct 12 at 0118, YL black torch singer tunes, must have just come on, or was in a pause a minute earlier when I tuned across. Perhaps Friday night = Sabbath will bring it back. 9775, Oct 12 at 0101 and a few later chex, it`s the Sabbath and still no repeat appearance of Radio YHWH, between 9770 Turkey and 9780 Sri Lanka. 9775, Oct 13 at 0111 and a couple more chex, still no more show from Radio YHWH. Wonder if they are using other frequencies? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) Hi Glenn, Oct 14 from tune in at 0139 to tune out at 0220, on 3234.95, found religious program in English with countless mentions of "Yahweh"; anti-Christian and anti-Catholic; "This is station YHWH." Two different audios to give you an idea of how they sound. https://app.box.com/s/n5quk1qzbjv1ttpqb7n7 https://app.box.com/s/9rnb0moivju3pbixj9eo (Ron Howard, Asilomar State Beach, CA, Etón E1, dxldyg via WORLD OF RADIO 1691, DX LISTENING DIGEST) 9775, Oct 14 a few chex after 0100, no show again from Radio YHWH, as heard six nights ago only; maybe better luck after a week on UT Tuesday 15? Or not: Ron Howard upon Asilomar State Beach, California, did catch ``Station YHWH`` at 0139-0220 Oct 14 on 3234.95, ``with countless mentions of "Yahweh"; anti-Christian and anti-Catholic``. So a full bandscan is necessary to find it; at least the favorite time is around 0100-0220+. 9775 & 3235, Oct 15 at 0057 and rechex until 0112, nothing from Radio YHWH, the Yahweh pirate, two frequencies where it has shown up before around this time (nor on 5990, 6010 as earlier). 9775 and 3235, Oct 16 at 0102 and later, no shows again from Station YHWH. The one time I heard it 8 nights ago on 9775, it did sound like Ron Howard`s recordings on 3234.95 [above]. That low frequency makes me suspect a western USA location (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1691, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** NORTH AMERICA. WAZU will be on 13605 kHz this afternoon from 2000 to 2100 UT. If that frequency is occupied, try 13548 (Harold Frodge, MI, Oct 13, DX LISTENING DIGEST) Missed it. Would people please be sure to send hot tips to my main e- mail address wghauser @ yahoo.com Tnx (Glenn) ** NORTH AMERICA. Thanks to US shutdown, pirate radio activity reaches an all-time high --- The SWLing Post By Thomas October 14, 2013 http://swling.com/blog/2013/10/thanks-to-us-shutdown-pirate-radio-activity-reaches-an-all-time-high/ As frustrated as many are over the US government shutdown, it nonetheless offers one unique benefit to the shortwave radio community, and to pirate radio in particular –– no FCC enforcement. As we mentioned earlier, the FCC’s enforcement arm was shut down along with all other FCC activities that weren’t directly connected with “the protection of life or property.” The result? Pirates –– lots of pirates –– on the air! The Jolly Roger flaps in the breeze. Pirate radio activity since the shutdown has truly been at a record high, with pirates taking to the airwaves throughout the week, and especially on the weekends. Case in point: this past weekend, the North American “pirate radio grounds” of 6920-6970 kHz were packed with pirate radio stations. There were even crowded band conditions; at one point I tweeted that there were no less than three pirates broadcasting simultaneously in just a small chunk of bandwidth on AM. Indeed, there may even have been a fourth that I couldn’t quite detect; an unusual occurrence, to say the least. Re 13-41: Hello all, where the following report by Dave Kenny was mentioned: «Radio Renascença’s medium wave transmitters which now carry the station’s Radio Sim channel aimed at older listeners are being run on reduced power to save energy costs. The main Lisbon transmitter on 594 kHz which is rated at 100 kW (but had been operating at 10 kW) has now been reduced to only 1.5 kW. Power of the 10 kW transmitters on 891, 963, 981 and 1251 kHz has been reduced to just 1 kW, while the 1 kW transmitters continue to operate at full power. Braga 576 kHz has been switched off as the area is served by an FM transmitter (Information from Radio Renascenca technical staff during EDXC visit on 9 Sep) Reception of Radio Sim on 594 kHz was extremely weak at our hotel in central Lisbon (Dave Kenny, Oct BDXC-UK Communication via DXLD)» I do not mean to contradict RR staff, but I suspect that the transmitter at Seixal (963 kHz) is running at a power level higher that the mentioned 1 kW; when Rádio Sim uses the spare transmitter (1 kW), in order to replace the main unit during maintenance work, the signal on 963 kHz picked up here (at Évora) is much reduced. On the other hand, when the transmitter is running at full power, I can get a fair signal - even using an ordinary, cheap radio (for not mentioning my Sony 7600 GR, for instance). I do not know whether R. Sim keeps using 10 kW, but, as I explained, whether the power is strongly reduced, the coverage beyond the region of Lisbon, specially in the Alentejo region, is clearly affected. While that, in spite of using only 1.5 kW, tx at Muge keeps providing a fair coverage of the south & the center of the country; the signal at Évora is stronger than the one from Seixal. A note regarding the inactive MW outlets: besides Braga (to be more accurate, the tx is actually located wothin the municipality of Vila Verde, close to Braga), the remaining switched off txs are Valongo, Viseu (both 1251 kHz 10 kW) and Évora (927 kHz 1 kW). These outlets were actually chosen because they are located in areas where Rádio Sim has VHF-FM txs: Braga 101.1 MHz 10 kW, Valongo 100.8 MHz 1.5 kW & Portel (near Évora) 97.5 MHz 0.5 kW. In addition there have been major changes in electoral demographics in the urban areas of Sarawak in the last two elections. . . . . http://www.geopoliticalmonitor.com/winds-of-discontent-over-borneo-4870/ (Ron Howard, CA, Oct 11, dxldyg via DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** SOMALILAND. 7120, Radio Hargeisa, *0330, Oct 10. The last weekend of October, Europe will change to "wintertime``. Does this mean that these RNE transmission times also will change, so we have to add one hour to the times you mentioned? Do you also happen to have the time schedule of regional/local transmissions of SER, COPE, OCR and Punto Radio? Many thanks, (Max Van Arnhem, The Netherlands, MWCircle yg via DXLD) Of course! It is the National radio so it works in Spanish local time. About other networks, I´m sorry but I don´t have its schedules. I have those of RNE as I work in RNE-Salamanca. 73! One of my beloved DX programs is Amigos de la Onda Corta in Spanish aired on Sundays 1205-1255 on 11910, 21515, 21610 (in A 13) and maybe there is a repeat on Mondays [UT 0005]. Heard on 6 October 2013. (I do know only some Spanish, sorry). (Rumen Pankov, Sofia, Bulgaria, Oct 15, DX LISTENING DIGEST) [and non]. 5965, Oct 15 at 0059, good signal with open carrier, and nothing on 5995 --- bet it`s REE COSTA RICA getting ready to start the wrong frequency; still dead air past 0100 but at 0103, modulating 5965 with REE, as usual a few seconds behind 9535 direct from Spain due to multiple satellite feed hops? Or other digital delays in the circuit. By 0108 recheck, however, back on correct 5995 instead of 5965 (axually they would be better off on 5965 now that RHC is on 6000, unless the Brasilian is really active on 5965?). REE schedule is 00-04 on 5995, 04-08 on 5965, and sometimes they are reversed after 0400 too. This time at 0542 check, on correct 5965 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also EAST TURKISTAN.
